Mount-ride-dismount, crook hips

Sorry no sex here but a question for those of you with hip problems. I've had one op on my hips to put of an inevitable hip replacement op in a few years but still have a problem dismounting and pivoting on my left leg which is probably just something I'll have to live with. But do any of you find a bike/style of bike thats more friendly so to speak? Just curious to know.

I'm not too tall,and have ridden tall dirt bikes most of my life,and never had a problem throwing my leg over the seat....

However,as I have got older some old injuries are showing they didn't really go away....now my left hip has less movement.I can't swing a leg over anymore - I mount with the sidestand down,standing on the peg.On or off road I have no problem,just getting on the damn things!

Climbing on the left peg stand down is my standard method as a short arse on the tall dirt bikes same as Motu and this would work I am sure on a lower bike if your hip parts aint so good. For me its partly because I have Ventura racks on the bikes and you can't swing a leg around so easily with the rack in the way.

I do as Mr Motu, for the same reason. If you're quick smart you can swing up from the peg without the stand down. Can be embarrassing if you get it wrong but.

Pack racks and such are a bloody pain, sucks when you swing your leg over and clobber the luggage. Always happens when there's chicks watching , too.

Yep, yep, yep...Know exactly what your going through.

The ST is pretty tall and I have to have the seat in the highest position to ensure minimal discomfort while riding (I find the tank a bit wide). Makes it harder getting on & off but fortunately for me it's my left hip that's shonky so I can still swing the right one over OK. I have more trouble getting my left foot on & off the peg but I do the Motu/Merv/Ixion thing and mount it like a horse if it's on the centre stand.

The Intruder was a better ride for this as it was lower, narrower and the forward pegs were more comfortable. I may have to go back to one at some stage but I'll stick with the ST for as long as possible.
