Hi guys,

I haven't been on here in ages but I hope all is well.
I also thought you all might be able to help me out.
I found the following question on a random forum I belong to. As you may know, I am still a newbie biker, so I don't really understand the question, but perhaps one of you can answer it?

"Why, on the Honda CBR600RR 2007 model, is one 'hero peg' footrest bolt longer than the other?"

Any takers?

As the exhaust may not be symmetrical or something like that generally.

Oh and it has more power and weighs less than a GSXR, R6 or a 6R!

its to help balence the bikes....you see...most guys hang a lil to the left....so in order to balance the bike properly honda added a tiny bit of weight via some light weight alloy on the bottom of the pegs on the right hand side....

suzuki amd kawasaki havn't bothered because the people who ride their machines have much much bigger cocks so it was deemed a silly idea,as at stationary the bikes would fall off there stands without the rider aboard due to the massive amount of weight needed to counter this effect...

Yamaha was making piano's and missed everything...but hey...they're girls bikes anyway!!

wow really!

I didn't notice! Shit!

But maybe the fact the chain etc is on the left means there is more CAT etc on the right what with EURO 3 making everyones life a pain in the arse.

"Why, on the Honda CBR600RR 2007 model, is one 'hero peg' footrest bolt longer than the other?" Any takers?Because one peg is higher than the other. I guess it is so that the hero blob touches down at the same lean angle on both sides.

I think the previous model 600RR also had footpegs at different levels.

Wouldn't it depend on what side those riders hang their tackle inside their leathers then, what if they don't just leave it in the middle, they would crash surely?

Really,
I must get one then. as I have one leg longer than the other....

Just hope it is the right side, otherwise I will have to ride it backwards...

I noticed this on my ex-cbr600rr as well - I thought it was a manufacturing defect (almost took it back to complain).
Did we get the answer?

It's a 22MB download, but proof's here: http://www.aqua.co.nz/sportsbike/superbike_05.pdf

Head to head comparison of the Jap '07 600s, with the Daytona 675 thrown in for good measure. If you're on dial-up or can't be bothered to download, the sum-up was:
"The Big H has done it again. The new CBR is easier to ride than ever, while being more focussed than ever. It has the least mass, the highest power, and the most composed handling package. It may not make you any faster on the track, but it'll make it easier for you to reach your limits, faster. It's a very special motorbike indeed."

Wet weights, fully fueled:
CBR600RR: 186kg
Daytona: 190.3kg
GSX-R600: 198kg
ZX-6R: 199.9kg
R6: 192.5kg

Rear-wheel HP (measured,not claimed):
CBR600RR: 106.78
Daytona: 103.57
GSX-R600: 104.25
ZX-6R: 106.76
R6: 104.01

I'm pretty sure it's got a slipper clutch too...

Was that a Seppo Daytona? cos i've got the June 2006 issue of "Superbike" which has a dyno chart of the 2006 Daytona putting out 110.9bhp at the rear wheel...

don't believe everything you read.

Oh yeah Daytona was Masterbike 2006 winner as well. But I do like the black and white livery of the '07 600RR...somehow...

Of course not! It has a CD at least, and some claim it possibly has an MP3 gearbox. :Punk:

I thought the pegs and bike were evenly balanced? This is to allow for the dickless riders who make a cu*t of themselves...

Definatly has not got a slipper clutch.

Good to see that the ZX is right there too, HP wise. Bring on 2008 Nationals.

I've no idea what a Seppo Daytona is or was. And Google (http://www.google.co.nz/search?hl=en&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-GB%3Aofficial&hs=qRb&q=%22seppo+daytona%22&btnG=Search&meta=) is not much help either. I imagine they jut put standard bikes up against each other in this kind of test. Anyone can get more power out of those engines by fitting the usual Dynojet, zorst and air filter. There are Daytonas racing in the British Supersport with 130+hp at the wheel, but they're hardly road bikes you can buy at every dealer.

The mag just states it's a standard '07 Daytona. And the figures came from the May '07 edition of the same magazine. So you either believe both, or neither :nono:

fer yer info... a "seppo" Daytona is still the Daytona 675 but one made for the American market, as in, seppo = septic tank = Yank. Usually ECUs are mapped differently and exhaust different to meet higher emissions regulations (= lower hp).

Euro models are coming into line with Euro 3 emissions regs now so the 2007 model could be slightly down on the 2006 output, but i haven't seen an '06 v '07 comparo.

If your test is true :shit: i'll have a 2006 D675 thanks wif Power Commander and Arrows exhaust :tasty:

KNEW you or someone would say that!!!
I belive that that will come of when we race prep them. Kawasaki have 'build quality' - or ultra thick stock fairings, a HUGE muffler, bigger than all the others...weight wise, i rekon we will be compeditive, no worries :D

In the right hands. In fact here I have a magazine (Damn magazines..) called PB. Honda launched the new CBR600RR the day before KawasakI launched the ZX6.. At the same track. Anyway, to make a long story short, the PB journo felt really comfortable on the CBR, easy to ride. The Kawasaki took more effort and didn't flatter the rider, but the reward was better laptimes in worse conditions.

HHhhmmm!

Hmmmmm... maybe you can give me some tips on how to ride mine better !!

After trading my 636 two weeks ago, KB trackday last Sunday showed me I can't be lazy relying on the extra 36cc of power/torque. I really have to work to get past other 600's but then maybe it isn't run in yet ?

To be honest, the extra 37cc was a gimmic. There was more HP gained in the way the 599cc motor was prepared, with the hand finished ports and whatnot. How many Km's does your 07 have? That was the red one which had had a slide already that I was admiring?? Iv'e only manage to do 100km on mine so far, havn't given it real gas yet, but that damn stock pipe feels really restictive already..down with catalic convirters!!!!!
