I soooooo wanna do something like this.I had a C50 for 7 yrs,it was a great machine,Cape Reinga to Bluff would have been fun, what these guys are doing is a trip of a lifetime! They've bumped them up to 100cc,but we'll let them do that,it's one hell of a long way,my C50 had never even done the mileage they intend to do when I sold it.

Sorry Motu, but I think you would find the seating position somewhat inappropriate over that distance, I do believe however those old honda step thru's were mighty pieces of engineering that seemed to be indestructable, but very very ugly.

That'd cost a bit in oil (the way those things leak)

:blah:But the spare parts would be cheap - you could use fencing wire, old tractor parts, bits of old scrap ironmongery....

We are planning something similar in the New Year hence the reason I bought the CT110, only plan to do the West Coast of the South Island.
So far 8 in our group with possibility of 2 more in a camper van as back up.

Great Way to see the country :niceone:

There was an article in KR a while back about 3 guys who went for a long adventure ride on CT110s,ok,we have all laughed at them, but they are a very underated bike, the little buggers will go anywhere - and if they won't,well, you just take them there anyway! Good luck on your trip Doug,I'm jealous!

A few years back a couple of guy's went round Aussie on CT110's, had big tanks fitted. I think the South Island will be far enough to start with.

No hurry just play tourist, down the West Coast we will still have bloody campers getting in the way, should be fun.

The trip will be open to anyone to join us so long as they are on something similar to the CT110's :scooter:

In 1980 2 Vespa PX200's finished the Paris Dakar (http://www.motorscooter.com.au/html/culture/history/vespa/vesp_his_4.htm).
And what was amazing about it was that it was in the same year they started

My other brother had a C50 bucket
