A cnut? A cunt who's also nuts? Was that intentional or serendipitous. Either way I vote it be added to the KB lexicon. I like it.

I encounter scnuts every day.

Scott said he would have laid his own complaint with police if not for a lengthy delay waiting for his fish and chips in Kaikoura.

"I'm a grizzly old bugger and I said, `You can kill yourself if you want to but don't kill me, you stupid buggers'," Scott said.

This guy needs his own TV show.

Other motorists acting as the eyes of the police is one thing, but doing and admitting to blocking moves?? Old fuck-knuckle needs to be made an example of. Just who does he think he is?

wonder wat the police and public response would have been had it been a 72 year old biker and 22 year old cager?

wat does anyone think? DOES the age of the combatants make a difference to public perception of incidents like this?

Doing fingers at a cager....not good, not good.

What is it with 'the fingers' that enrages people?

Have just done a round trip up through the East coast to Nelson and back down the West Coast.

I have to say that the majority of cagers were very accommodating and pulled over to the left and let us ride through.

We always give those ones a wee thankyou wave.

Both my wife and I were amazed at how frequently this occurred on this trip.

We are pretty tough on errant cagers on KB so just thought this was worth a mention here. Cheers John.

What is it with 'the fingers' that enrages people?

because it means, in effect "you've done your tiny best to piss me off and you have FAILED MISERABLY you pathetic, snivelling loser!"

hey - it's all in the smile and wink you give the victim as you make the gesture :)

.......... and yes, OldRider, i noticed on our recent trip down south how many motorists over here in west aus also moved over to let us past .... i always give a sort of little left-handed salute of appreciation when that happens and, it seemed to me, my left hand was seldom on the grip during stretches of that journey! good to see!!

from the old bugger in the car - "I sure as hell pulled over to the centre line and I made all sorts of signs"

so he basically admitted to blocking the biker?? that should be grounds for a charge, surely.

Regardless of whether it was an unsafe place to pass or whatever, Joe Public has NO right to take dangerous action such as this based on a completely subjective personal judgement

I've come across this myself, heading back from bulls to palmy on the main road. There was a truck holding up 3 cars followed by me on the bike. The cars didn't have the power, space or the vision to be able to pass, but as you all know, on a bike it's very easy to just nip past the first car, then nip past the 2nd, etc (although they were all tailgating like idiots too). So as I went to pass the rearmost car (which was a lowered WRX with a 48" exhaust, etc...you get the picture), the idiot moved over onto the centre line and just rode it....CHILD!!

I can't stand guys who can't leave the ego's at home when it comes to driving/riding...it's absolutely pathetic, they see it all as one big race...P A T H E T I C!!! (not to mention stupid and dangerous)

Needless to say, 5 minutes later I was miles ahead of all of them and it had nothing to do with having the biggest balls or going faster than anyone else - a bike will always get somewhere first over a car when in traffic, and it sounds to me as that might have been the case with this old geezer - just didn't want to be passed by anyone....CHILD! or not, who knows...

I don't get it. the Police are are not laying a complaint because "Sergeant Raymond Smith, of the Kaikoura police, said both drivers could have been charged, based on the different accounts from each party. However, the lack of an independent witness made that difficult."

Yet ....
"... Darrell said he and his wife were attempting to overtake Scott just before the Dashwood rail overpass when Scott pulled over to block their path. He said a travelling companion on another bike was also blocked...."

So the Police say "no witnesses" yet there was a pillion on bike 1 and another witness/victim right behind on bike 2???

This is something I've noticed seems quite widespread outside of Auckland - cars, trucks, buses, etc will make a bit of space for me if I'm obviously looking to get past. I assume this also happens for vehicles other than bikes!

Is it because people are less aggressive out of the big smoke? Or perhaps they're just aware that if somebody wants to have an accident, it's usually best to let them carry on, rather than become part of it.

A big change from the UK where people will try to block you, and flipping the finger between gear-changes became instinctive for a bit. With the increasing popularity of bikes in the UK (cos they're the only way to get around without being stuck in the gridlock whch covers most of it) there is now much greater tolerance cos more people know a guy who rides a bike, etc.

Also, grizzly-cnut's opinion was that it was dangerous, but I think we all know that if you're sitting on a bike you can often see a lot better than when sitting in a car - and you're used to looking through the bend. I did a great one of those in Arthur's Pass once, overtook a huge truck plus attendant long gaggle of cages just by looking left around the gorge & seeing nothing coming for ~2km... I can still feel the incredulous looks now!

The cops are probably playing to the greatest audience and issuing everybody with a Bloody Well Behave notice. Let's hope everybody does.

lol, how can one resist getting enraged at a person whos smiling, winking and giving me the fingers at the same time.... they probably would have been and gone before I was able to work out 'what just happened' and 'why did I just wave and smile at a person giving me the fingers??'

- How to control the behaviour of others without them even realizing it huh!!

I would have thought so, that certainly sounds like dangerous driving but then was what the biker did dangerous also? He said, she said, etc etc. Sounds like a storm in a teacup.

"pulled over to the centre line".
"pulled over the centre line" would have been very different.

The grizzley old bugger who undertook me on the Nordie at 100kph is now dead.

Did the same to a bunch of cars in the 50kph zone at the end of the 100kph zone he did it to me on.
2 wheels in the grass, up the inside - up the arse of a car.

Bet he's learned his lesson now.

Eh? What bit of the UK were you riding in? Very rarely did this ever happen to me compared to the fucktards driving over here.

Nah, should have charged the old cunt and took away his license. He admitted "blocking" and there was another independant witness.

72 or not, after doing that if he'd stopped to give me abuse and there were no witnesses I'm pretty sure his windows wouldn't be intact.
