"Police reported a five-car nose-to-tail pile-up on State Highway 2 at Horokiwi, a crash between a car and motorcycle opposite Pomare Railway station in Lower Hutt and a truck and car collided in Ngauranga Gorge at the Newlands onramp. "

Yep saw the chaos on SH2 this morning from the office window. Be careful out there chaps, those roads are greasy and the cars are closing up the gaps.

plus a tree and some power poles are down out makara way and a railway barrier arm is stuck down at Paekak. Looks like the weathers causing havoc out there today

Location of incident: Eastern Hutt Rd, Taita, Lower Hutt

Incident Type: Car v Motorbike Crash

Opposite Pomare Railway Station there is a crash involving a car and motorbike.

All services are on scene dealing

Unknown injuries at this stage

Eastern Hutt Rd is closed at this stage

The attending officers advised Comms that the injured party appeared to be Status 3 on arrival. That's a shitload better than Status 1. Hope they are okay, I went through 40 minutes later & saw no signs of an accident.

Was almost involved in that one...it was a tail-to-tail after the ute next to me locked up to avoid the original two car nose to tail, and hit two more on his way thru backwards...and the truck coming/merging out of Horokiwi, that caused the slow up that lead to accedent just kept on truckin'....

Fortunatly I was in work car rather than the 'Pig...four wheels IS good for braking in the wet. unless there set up like the utes...soon as he jumped on the brakes the back came round, thought he was going to come across into me tho...poor guy, thatl take some explaining to th boss.

Truck driver probably saw it all happening in his side mirrors and as you say ... just kept on truckin!!!"
