Transponder Mounting

What's the best place to mount them?

I've just bought the rechargeable model from VMCC.

How important is it that there is no metal or anything between the transponder and the sensor on the side of the track?

How durable are these things in a bin?

mount it between the triple clamps on the fork...and make sure when you turn the handle bars left and right it doesn't hit or touch anything....
