Bike for sale, as is where is. Needs to be picked up from Wgtn

This bike is going to cost me waaay to much money to fix. Its currently sitting in a bike shop in Wgtn. They have done a cylinder leak down test and cylinders 1 and 4 arent working at all. The shop cannot confirm whether its a burnt ring or valve. Either way its gonna cost me too much money, that I dont have. I cant confirm what if any other problems this bike has, but I can confirm it has a brand new O ring chain, the tyres on it are pretty good and its kind of OK cosmetically. Though the fly wheel cover was covered in knead-it when I bought the bike and there are obvious signs of "straightening".

Best offer by Weds 9th May gets the bike.

Send a PM to Delboy on here,he used have heaps of FZR400 bits & pieces,including motors,frames etc,having raced one for years,I think he had cornered the market for spares
If he doesnt,he could pass on who else can help fix it!!

Yeah, I know. But ive now been bikeless since Easter and have lots of time to think about my options. It seems that every time I fix the bike something else just seems to happen!...The bike is for sale. Im not sure yet if or when i will replace it but i am thinking of getting something newer and more reliable. Id still love an SV650....

But as said, people are more than happy to help.

at least let someone pull the top end off. It'll take an evening to find out what is wrong, and you never know what it could be. it may be something silly like incorrect valve clearance.

I'll take up pauls idea of doing the top end. I know my way round a spanner pretty well, and ive done quite a few 4cylinder top ends now..

Real shame about your bike, don't let that $2500 go down the tube though, let Glen and Paul pull it to bits and find out at least whats going on with her before you chuck her away.

hopefully something can be done and you'll be that much closer to your SV, and you have to get the SV1000, wnt forget the look on your face after you got off that lol didn't shut up about it all night hehehehe

I have complete engine out of a 1986/7 or could even be 1988 (i cant remember) sitting under my olds house. was still running 5ish odd years ago before i decided to pull it out of the frame and hide it under there, and I'm pretty sure it still turns over. its yours if you want it and have some ingenious way of getting it to the other end of the island.

I understand about just wanting to ride... damn time being finite and all. If you're lusting over an SV1000, make sure you ride a GSXR750 of a similar price... so totally totally different bikes, some people bend the twin way, others the four, make sure you're as sure as you can be before you buy :yes:

You gotta give a little something to give us at least some sort of faith in the product. Currently $200 is all it sounds like it's worth (to me), given that the motor might potentially have a cracked head, or worse.

- cost a small fortune on this bike over the last 5-6 months to get running
- would be a good parts bike
- a great "do-a-upper"
- cylinders 1 and 4 arent working at all
- most likely has electrical problems as well
- brand new O ring chain (520),
- newish sprockets
- tyres on it are pretty good
- kind of OK cosmetically
- fair bit of rust appearing on the frame (aren't they alloy framed??)
- fly wheel cover was covered in knead-it when I bought the bike
- obvious signs of "straightening".
- no WoF but has Rego.

So how about some pics? :yes: One of these sads sacks you've been on a ride with might have some pics from it's glory days, even those would be a start (although pics of the current condition are obviously preferable). Hard to appraise the value of something you can't see, and expecting the worse given your (honest sounding :)) appraisal). Keen to see more though, pm me if you like.

I've got a mate who started to build a really really nice FZR400, did all of the bodywork and chassis prep himself. Fell on hard times and the project was never completed... he still has some bits and pieces. He's doing a little better these days, and hasn't ridden a bike in years, would be nice if he could restore it. He hasn't got a lot of money, but is excellent at building things and working with his hands... sounds like the perfect candidate for a bike like this (given that he's in no great hurry to ride). I'm reluctant to steer him towards something we really have no idea about the condition of, thus without seeing some pics, so really our appraisal has to be pretty low.

Auction is closing today. Thanks to a certain KBer the bids are at $650, yay! That's enough to cover the bill from the bike shop + beer money so im stoked!

If anyone knows anyone thats after (female) riding gear, I have a Codura Jacket and pants, im a pretty average size (about size 10). I have dri-rider boots and a pair of gloves that are still in OK condition. Im willing to sell these at a very low price as they are no longer needed. I also have an HJC (CS10?) helmet but thats in pretty average condition....

Just been reading the original thread from when you brought it around 7 months ago. Whats with selling your helmet and stuff ? I'll have a bid on this bike as I think its worth far more than whats been bidded so far. Bike shops are a very expensive way to go and the problem may not be as bad as it actually sounds. The bike was running fine from what I saw on the day it started playing up on your trip home.

I will miss you if your not coming on any more rides Helen. Don't sell your helmet and gear as you won't get much and may need them one day. Believe it or not the bike I ride the most on the road at the moment is my old scooter as its so cheap and convenient.

Now lets bid this bike up to a respectable price.

As for my gear I have practically sold it to a work mate. I have been off a bike since Easter Friday and ive had a mate killed on a bike since.... Since I can no longer afford to ride I have decided that I will probably not be coming back to it any time soon, if at all.
