Someone has watched "Chopper"
It appears the media have focused all their attention on dogs recently... Dog kills person, person kills dog, dog runs rampant on P, Helen Clark lifts her leg on the Nats...
Don't worry, next week it be something else.

also the media wouldn't know a pit bull if one was humping there leg!!!
its also a interesting genralisation to....as more dog's that are not pit bulls or bull terriers attack people,animals,etc....but we don't hear much about that...farm dogs are usually amoung the worst for this sort of anti social behaviour towards humans...but then most dogs that bite in towns are mongrels....often with some X of bull terrier in them....which doesn't make them a bull terrier at all...

Don't get me started. Gini has to go to court now to testify against the owners of the dog that attacked her and Nicky a few weeks back. The owners are fighting the City Council's declaration of the animal as a dangerous animal and insisting on their rights to allow it to roam free.
Unfortunately for them, all the people the dog's attacked (there are a few) don't agree with this.
At least it isn't being fed P though.

because, nine times out of ten, it's NOT the dog to blame - it's the owner
either for not training the dog to behave - or for encouraging the dog to behave badly - or for not controlling the dog
the only truly effective legislation would be to HAVE THE FRIGGIN OWNERS PUT DOWN!!

Bullshit. Blame the dog.
And the reason the press doesn't publish dog attacks from Chihuahua's, basset hounds, dachshunds etc is that they do little damage and don't go into uncontrollable frenzies like fighting dogs do. Even a border collie can't do nearly as much damage as a fighting dog.
I'd run from a bull terrier, but a Pug? ha ha ha

there are dogs that are bred for looks
there are dogs that are bred for temperament
but any dog will fight or attack given the right circumstances
- i was once badly savaged by a pekinese with a tooth abscess [true - i was about 3 at the time] whose owner had failed to have it treated
- my daughter had an ear nearly ripped off by an incontinent, fat, jealous spaniel whose owner had given it an inflated idea of it's own importance
- there are countless stories of some terrier breeds being unsafe around babies ..... one had to be put down in my own family [the terrier - not the baby]
- and my aunt's scottie - well - a meaner, sneakier, base-natured, bad-tempered critter couldn't be imagined [you would have sworn it was an aligator until she cut the tail off .....] ... it was NOTORIOUS - got so bad the milkman refused to deliver [this was England], the rag and bone man's horse wouldn't even enter the street and the gardener took to wearing steelcap boots, gaiters and a haunted expression.......
the only thing that differs is the amount of mayhem the size and physiology of the dog in question permits it to inflict
------------- so 'bullshit' right back at you, Fatjim .......... dogs are pack animals and the owner is supposed to be pack leader [ie 's/he who is responsible for the actions of the pack]

I hate the term "fighting dog" I had a bull mastiff X that was rescued from organised dog fighting. He was one of the sweetest dogs I've owned. Even years afterwards he would go any dog that crossed his path, so we had to be careful to keep him apart from the rest but he was extremely docile around humans - only looked the part. Hell I used to put a pony saddle on him and lead him round with my younger cousins on him back!
Hmm, my point was that yes dogs can be vicious but usually all you have to do is look at the way they've been raised and cared for to see what kind of dog they turn out to be. Of course there are occasions where this is not the case..

According to the Herald someone has heard a rumour of dogs being fed P. This is atrocious journalism, writing news stories about rumours. Who the hell could afford to feed their dogs a steady diet of P. AlsoI dont know how effective P is when ingested as opposed to smoked, but I would hazzard a guess at not very, and I cant see anyone training their dog to suck on a glass pipe. Even if someone was wealthy enough and stupid enough to do this, how the hell would they calculate dosage? odds are that with the metabolic rates of dogs, any large increase in heart rate would be fatal (Well thats my opinion, but I am in no way qualified as a vet).

Personally I believe bad journalists are worse than, dangerous dogs, drunk drivers and any other lowlife you can think of!
It appears that they have no accountability to anyone for their malicious contributions to the media circus!
How many times do you ever seen them held responsible or face public retribution for untrue mischievous articles? :tugger: in my opinion. John.

bad parents inevitably breeding bad kids? nah - if that were the case i'd personally be a total foulup [instead of only partially so :innocent: ]... ......there are so many examples around where great parents produce shitty kids and vice versa ..... if your studies show that they gotta be somehow skewed methinks
important to breed for temperament ...... and don wanna disagree with someone whose opinions i revere but posts from both missL and yourgoodself indicate that the owner's attitude has a lot more that 5% influence
[B]it's gotta be the Owner's responsiblility at all levels ------ even if it's only to decide reluctantly "I've got a badly-bred animal here - it's potentially dangerous - i can't control it - shoot it"

I think you missed my point, not by much, maybe only a country mile or 2.
Any dog can bite. Even Poos lovely pooch. But different dogs do different things when they misbehave. A "fighting" dog can do far more damage, and is more likely to because they go beserk.
These "fighting" dogs were also bred to fight. Believe it or not, man has known for quite a long time how to breed certain traits into animals. And not just physical traits.
It's kinda like the difference between an air rifle and centrefire. They're both guns, they both can go off accidentally, or be misused, but the potential for damage with one is so much greater.
Thats my point

its been said many times above, but its DEFINATELY the owner's fault.. they train the dogs for fighting etc... and a lot of the dogs they use are naturally inclined to be more agressive, due to selective breeding to produce those breeds with those tendancies...
I think its really stupid how people blame the dogs for their actions.. its not the dogs.. and what were the people and kids etc, doing to make the dogs run out and attack them huh??!!
ive learnt loads about dogs, their behaviour and selective breeding etc etc... so i would kind of know about this...
im sad to see people getting hurt by them, but what we have to really look at, is the owners and some sort of prosecution (harsh) against them, and some way of stopping them from owning dogs in the future!! that will stem, if not stop the dog attacks... and they should police dog fighting better... its way more dangerous for the dogs to be so aggressive now a days, and irresponsible dog owners do NOT give a fuck...
I agree: SHOOT THE FUCKING OWNERS!

I have read (and not in the Harold, either) of parents calming babies by smoking dope and blowing the smoke over childs face - the child inhales enugh to make it sleep. I can imagine this same technique would work with P. Would be a pretty brave (or stupid) person who puts their face close enough to a pitbull on P though. Maybe just having the dog in the room while the user was smoking it would be enough?

even if the dickheads on p know or do this to dogs, why put it in papers so that even the least inteligent twits in society can be shown it or get someone to read it to them.we have a pure bred alsation nearly 2yrs,friendly as,but if he doesn't know you he can be intimidating, also he's a good guard dog,has a mean growl when disturbed at night.when i insured the bike insurance asked about security,i said yep garage, lockable garden shed and the best one bike alarmed as well as dog on patrol on property, they said dog is fine lol.when we picked up the dog as a pup,you were told don't enter the section if you see huge male dog free, father of dog was about 3feet tall huge and scary, mother was timid in comparrison,so bit of both rubbed off.if anyone is dumb enough to come on our property at night after the flash of dog to gate and barking, maybe he'd lick them more than likely.we treat him as we like to be treated, yes he's had the odd wack on ass with paper or 2x1 timber, but he learns, treated well they are fine mistreat them tough, mind you he could snap anytime like any animal,be it bull, cow ,horse.how often you here about a horse kicking, biting people,it happens nothing said.

Well maybe if just one of these owners is made an example of it could give all these other cunts a kick up the arse.
its not just what the people were necessairily doing, the dog could have been off the leash, the gate left open, countless scenarios.
Not many people would go up to pat a pitbull the same they would a golden retriever now would they?
