Just listening to David Bowie's "Bowie: The Singles Collection". Friggin awesome collection of songs. Not a dedicated DB fan but theres something about his songs that 'strikes chord'...

I usually think polls are a bit naff but I'm going to give it a go.

So whats your favourite Bowie hit? Sorry theres a limited number of selections...

Personally I love the songs that Seu Jorge performed in 'Life Aquatic', and 'Fashion' that was in 'A Knights Tale'.

All of them are cool really. Cool:cool:

I have the soundtrack album.

In fact, I think I might just play it, right now.

And what's with missing out 'Ashes to Ashes' from the poll, eh?

Space Oddity...
Yeah, SO is a great song but such a cliche now eh?...like saying: 'My favourite Queen song is Bohemian Rhapsody". EVERYONE knows that song and almost exclusively that song.

Pretty much anything with Mick Ronson on guitar, but I'll pick Suffragette City as my personal fave.

However, Station to Station from Stage is up there too.

Modern Love.

I don't want to go out
I wont stay in
Get things done

I catch a paper boy
But things don't really change
I'm standing in the wind
But I never wave bye-bye

But I try, I try

There's no sign of life
It's just the power to charm
I'm lying in the rain
But I never wave bye-bye

But I try, I try

Never gonna fall for
Modern love - walks beside me
Modern love - walks on by
Modern love - gets me to the church on time
Church on time - terrifies me
Church on time - makes me party
Church on time - puts my trust in god and man
God and man - no confessions
God and man - no religion
God and man - don't believe in modern love

It's not really work
It's just the power to charm
I'm still standing in the wind
But I never wave bye bye

But I try, I try

Never gonna fall for
Modern love - walks beside me
Modern love - walks on by
Modern love - gets me to the church on time
Church on time - terrifies me
Church on time - makes me party
Church on time - puts my trust in god and man
God and man - no confessions
God and man - no religion
God and man - don't believe in modern love
Modern love - walks beside me
Modern love - walks on by
Modern love - gets me to the church on time
Church on time - terrifies me
Church on time - makes me party
Church on time - puts my trust in god and man
God and man - no confessions
God and man - no religion
God and man - I don't believe in modern love

Modern love, Modern love, Modern love, Modern love, Modern love, Modern love
Modern love, Modern love, Modern love, Modern love, Modern love, Modern love

Modern love - Modern love, walks beside me
Modern love - Modern love, walks on by
Modern love - Modern love, walks beside me
Modern love - Modern love, walks on by
Never gonna fall for
Never gonna fall for

Too difficult to choose, but "Life on Mars", "Ashes to Ashes", and "Absolute Beginners" would have be up the top of my list.

The man's a genius, and that voice........!

He's done some weird stuff in the last decade though....

The Man Who Sold The World
Ah yes, very cool song. As I mentioned before, Seu Jorge has done some very cool remakes/renditions of some Bowie songs in 'Life Aquatic'. All sung in Portuguese and peformed on a classical guitar. Very cool....counting down from ten in Portuguese ala Space Oddity when the pirates are boarding the ship is quite funny.

Andy Warhol
Amsterdam
Scary Monsters (And Super Creeps)

Queen Bitch

Sounds like you like Hunky Dory a lot, going by that list.

Life on Mars is off Hunky Dory as well, which is what I picked. And I'll have you know I liked it well before the television mini series came out :D

How can you not love the lyrics? They're so surreal...

"Take a look at the lawman
Beating up the wrong guy.
Oh man!
Wonder if he'll ever know
He's in the best selling show."

And then later...

"It's on America's tortured brow
That Mickey Mouse has grown up a cow.
Now the workers have struck for fame
'Cause Lennon's on sale again.
See the mice in their million hordes
From Ibeza to the Norfolk Broads."

Except I always used to think it was "'Cause Lenin's on sale again.", which I found very amusing because Lenin was a communist...

Yeah, lots good stuff from that guy, 'Low' was underated, 'Station to Station' featured some good numbers (as did my supplier) but really, the first step was 'Space Oddity'. Well done that man.

Lots of Top 10 stuff getting the mentions here.
Most of Bowie's really good stuff never got played on radio - Moonage Daydream and Sweet Thing / Candidate for instance. And the Berlin stuff.

Mick Ronson and Carlos Alomar are OK, but I'd plump for Earl Slick's playing abilities over either of those two.
Have a listen to David Live at the Tower Philadelphia, then tell me I'm wrong...

Ok, I'll admit it - I like "John, I'm only Dancing" (despite it's connotations), love the bass. And no I'm no that way inclined.
