View Full Version : Ride for those Depressed

Grahameeboy
4th May 2007, 15:50
Well a lot of posts were put into the 'Depression' Thread so got me thinking.

We have 'Ladies Only', '250 Rides', 'Newby Rides' so here we go

Meet at 'Westgate' Shell at 10 for a 10.30 start.

However, this can be reviewed depending on where people are arriving from.

Ride to be decided but Maungawhai Heads is a good bet as we can have lunch at the pub there.

Would like to restrict it to KBers who fit the purpose of the ride, however, if you are dealing with crap, Parents, Divorce etc and want to get away for a ride, even talk about things you are more than welcome.

I will leave it open whether you want to show your attendance. If you can just pm me so I have an idea of numbers so I can warn the Pub.

For those who think this is a sad idea...I don't care.

this is NOT a good idea

misery combined is misery exponentially enhanced ........ and do you REALISE how impossible it is to have a good weep in a full-face?

Good GRIEF man, just blowing your NOSE becomes a task of epic proportions [and one best not attempted at any speed above stationary i might add!!]

and what if the ride leader becomes so depressed that he/she decides he/she just can't take it any more and takes a turn in the road where the road don't go??

in short, this is NOT a good idea

I think a 'lets all go for a ride and be cheery' is a lovely idea. Calling it a depressed ride gives it a bad name right from the start.

But a ride for those who posted in the depression thread.. a ride open to all those who want to have a good ride... great :)

This is no shit man .Couple of years ago my gay brother in law and his partner bought a bach on the Thames coast (Part of the Coro Loop). I went down with my teenage daughters to visit for the first time. Got there and no one home , the girls reckon they would be at the swimming hole the guys mentioned and knew where it was. They headed off to find them. I just sat there on the deck surrounded by these colourful "Bali" type kites and flags and windchime thingy's. Waited about half an hour for them to get back. While waiting occassionally a car would toot so I just waved back. Fe..rk how do think I felt when . They all got back and mentioned that I was I was sitting under the gay flag . My medication has been increased and I get violent quickly, but the councilling is working

Yeah, me too. I've even got some brand new ones I'm not game to start on.
Perhaps a lucky dip at rest stops, then comparing notes as to what was the best buzz?

I can't remember (droogs have wrecked my memory) but there was something I was on that used to improve my riding if I took it 20 minutes before I went riding. It apparently boosted my adrenaline levels and made me more aggressive. Now if I could combine that with something that made me feel mellow, we'd be onto a winning combo for an anti-depressive, therapeutic ride. :niceone:
Throw in some alcohol to make the therapy more pleasurable, and I'll be in.
Oh wait... I don't drink'n'ride.

Fair enough, I might have been a bit hasty in going ape shit, I couldn't normally give a shit how people ride, (as long as I can stay in front of them), but I know what it's like to loose a mate from a bike crash, and wouldn't wish it on anyone. The drugs and bikes combo could only increase the chances.

Lifestyle blocks would have to be the biggest misnomer of all time. I used to say they were all about keeping everything including the animals in the lifestyle they expect, while having none yourself.......LOL
