UPDATED REPORT: LOS ANGELES: Hotel heiress and reality TV star Paris Hilton has been ordered to spend 45 days in jail for violating the terms of her probation for alcohol-related reckless driving.
A Los Angeles Superior Court judge ordered the 26-year-old celebrity socialite jailed for driving on a suspended license in February. He ordered her to report to jail on June 5.
The judge, Michael Sauer, made the decision after a two-hour hearing during which Hilton insisted she was unaware that her driving privileges had been suspended when she was pulled over for driving without headlights on February 27.
Hilton was placed on three years probation earlier this year for pleading no contest – the equivalent of a guilty plea – to alcohol-related reckless driving after a September 2006 arrest in Hollywood.
She landed in hot water again in late February, when she was pulled over on Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood for driving without headlights. Police impounded her car, a $US190,000 ($NZ262,000) blue Bentley, when they discovered she was driving on a suspended licence.
Hilton's latest legal problems come a little more than three weeks before her reality TV show, "The Simple Life, co-starring her friend Nicole Richie," returns to the airwaves for a fifth season. The series has already been taped.

ahahahahah pwned.
Thick as she is, she could try the same defence as last time. "I didn't know I was not allowed to drive." Be the same result as last time, but nobody would expect any better.

Said on the news she thought it was only for 28 days.. then later in the piece she said she thought she could drive if it was work related. But what does she do that is work related?!? I mean... being a dumb skank is hardly a job!
She is appealing it though... orange jumpsuits are so not hot
Wonderful! If only the rest of the cast and crew were in there with her for "Making a public nusiance and creating crap television programmes".
She could shove a broomstick up that dog's arse (IS it a dog???) and sell it as a cottonbud.

Ha Ha Ha Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Hilton looked so unhappy in the latest snap and for some reason that makes me just so the reverse. Its got to be the parents fault in part. At least the Yanks make a point to offenders before they kill. Our courts are now letting them walk on the excuse of "post traumatic stress disorder".

Here, here. Who cares really...I mean really?
The fact that she is such a celebrity, is really quite a sad indictment of our 'enlightened' western society. The fact that she has made an industry out of being a completely immoral, irresponsible slapper is staggering.
The worst part about it, is that she and people like her, don't actually give a sh*t that every sordid, embarrassing part of their lives becomes news.
Here's a quote form Stuff:"The judge, Michael Sauer, made the decision after a two-hour hearing during which Hilton insisted she was unaware that her driving privileges had been suspended when she was pulled over for driving without headlights on February 27."
As every good citizen will know, ignorance of the law is no excuse....a very apt use of words in the context of Paris Hilton....
Yayyy - a lesbo prison porn flick in the making starring Ms Hilton perhaps?
I've been trying to think of a suitable title...Hilton, Jail, Rug Munching.....ideas?

Contender for quote of the week, and possibly even the year, comes from the lovely Paris, with this effort (particularly the delightfully graceful second sentence):
"This is an important point in my life and I need to take responsibility for my actions. In the future, I plan on taking more of an active role in the decisions I make... Although I am scared, I am ready to begin my jail sentence."
I promise I didn't cut-and-paste this from LOTPIHGAD.

That video is kind of mean though, I mean.. she is right there!
I can't believe they cut her sentence in half though! And I think it should be illegal to make money from being in jail... they are saying she is going to make like $28 mil from it, it should be given to charity cause she hardly needs it!

You get arrested, you've done 111kph on the freeway of Nowhere'sville, Parisona, right? You're in deep doo-doo, you're going to the slammer, right?
Some screw says "you have a choice; solitary or 23 days with Paris Hilton".
Answer please.
(And let's not forget two things; nobody ever tells about what goes on in prison cells and Paris Hilton is preeeetty farrrrkin' stooopid.)

What an utter joke the whole thing has been. 'Medical reasons' .....probably alcohol & raging withdrawal.
Amazing how the rules change when you have money and "fame".
What would happen if a serial murderer was realeased due to "medical reasons" - pffft, she did the crime, she should do the f***ing time... no matter what her last name is.

Regardless of who she is, jail for driving whilst suspended is silly....she was silly assuming she knew which seems to be everyone's assumption.
She did not have to drive with all her money if she knew she was suspended.

Wonder if there'll be any public backlash, outraged indignation etc.
Or is America entirely too wraped up in their fame fettish experiment...

There is an outraged public backlash already. What's more, Miss Hilton doesn't seem to be too popular with her peers (other famous rich types). Just before she reported for prison, she appeared at an MTV awards ceremony and was jeered by the crowd.
Frankly I'm appalled that she has been released. What are the odds of the shoplifter in the next cell having "dietry" problems and going home??......

LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- Hours after Paris Hilton was sent home under house arrest Thursday, the judge who put her in jail for violating her reckless-driving probation ordered her into court to determine whether she should be put back behind bars.
Hilton must report to court at 9 a.m. Friday, Superior Court spokesman Allan Parachini told The Associated Press.
"My understanding is she will be brought in in a sheriff's vehicle from her home," Parachini said.
Superior Court Judge Michael T. Sauer issued his order after the city attorney filed a petition late Thursday afternoon questioning whether Sheriff Lee Baca should be held in contempt of court for releasing Hilton on Thursday morning.
