could hook up with another ride if those who show up decide that is the direction the ride wishes to go. If not then all good and might just wander. could go out to the beach or through the wairapapa

I surpose I should let you know what you missed out on.
Ambled down to Mobil at 10am and Bonez and Yod showed up. Fairly obvious no one else was going to show so off we went. 2 Hondas taking the lead with the kwaka following closely behind. Headed out through the gorge and then on to Piatutua trying to avoid the impending rain clouds. The wind was quite strong and took some effort to get teh bikes to go in a striaght line. Pretty boring striaght road but we got through it. Turned off to Pangaroa and the smile grew as the road tightened up. Fantastic ride through to lunch stop. Parking up in Pangaroa the kwaka found itself in a rose between two thorns but the pace was smooth and enjoyable.
On to webber and out to Danniverke. Wind was getting really really strong now but it was holding the rain off.
Did some window shopping at bike shop in Danniverke before heading down top grass road (read striaghtest boring POS road ever) down to the saddle road. Gave the 9 a bit of a work out over the saddle which was as dodgy as it usually is and managed to lose the front and back in 2 seperate incidents. Bit of a butt clench and got through that bit.
Then on to home for coffee. The rain started just as we were pulling into ashhurst. Perfect timing.
Accordign to the GPS.
2 hours 20 on the bikes, 3 and a half including chatting. 192km covered. Made it home dry.
Great day out.
Parking up in Pangaroa the kwaka found itself in a rose between two thorns....
....here's the proof....:crybaby:
good ride - bit damp coming back over the saddle road, took it easy coming down there but nice on the way up
a few wet patches and a bit of gravel on the east side but nothing to worry about much, just kept Bonez rear tyre in front of me and cruised (kwaka was somewhere behind me...again?)
the little viffer was getting thrown around a bit, but then you don't ride in this part of the country and not expect wind at some stage!
a good jaunt all in all
Bonez is probably sleeping already:yes: sounds like a plan to me....
Yip another successfull mission on the CX. Two for two this weekend. Time to carry out a post flight inspection.......................

never had anything fall off my bikes (2 hondas and a kwaka) but i hit the brakes on a sportster i borrowed once and the linkage fell apart and was dragging on the road:laugh:

The next one will be a big run. For some time I have been wanting to plan a longer trip on the bikes. I do enjoy the sunday wanders but am missing spending a long time on the bikes and all the reading from the guys doing the southern cross is making me want to ride more! Damn!
So I am thinking something along the lines of...
Halcombe hill
wanganui
surf highway 45
awakino
8 mile
nat park
paraparas
home
