Honda Spada VT250 1989. Is it good??

basically ive started looking for a new bike following my scooter and ive found the Spada VT250. Now i am looking for a 250 only (im on my learners) and the spada does look inviting. Im looking at this one in particular. Please give me your thourghts. Cheers

I had a '89 spada for some years, was a very good relaible bike. Gas wise was very good, about $10 (thats all tank holds) does about 260-300 k's.
The bike was often mistaken for a big bike, had folks thing it was anything from a 400 to a 1000cc, even some kid say "look mum a harley" lol

Compared to my new bike the vt seemed a little heavier on the steering and didn't corner as well, but I am comparing a '89 to a '06

Overall, a great leaners and beyond bike, I would of kept mine longer but the chance to buy this new one came up ... also being a late 80's, alloyed framed 250 they are worth more than a lot of the 250's, I got 3.5 grand for a trade in on mine.

Our son, hxc, has one of those - his opinion of his Spada was really high - as in, the best thing since sliced bread, no bike better than the Spada...until today that is, when he got to ride a 'busa!
Spada is a great bike, easy to ride and eminently flickable through the corners.

Great bike mate. Easily eat any other 4 stroke 250 twin, and can keep up with the big bikes if you know what you're doing in the corners. An often under-rated bike, but 5 stars, easily. I've had an awesome time on mine, and will continue to do so until the time comes to sell it.

Yeah mate looks pretty good, hasn't done too many k's and seems tidy.
Check it out and see how ya like it, have heard good things about them, i almost bought one when i was looking for a 250.

I have read they are really well engineered. Hence expensive in its days. So they should last.

Go for it! Supposed to be an excellent bike, light, and handle quite well. Engine had problems in other incarnations, but we've had this discussion a million times here on KB and apparently the Spada had all the problems ironed out.

I had a ride on the one TSS had, nifty little bike, excellent in the corners and had an excellent sound that was music to my ears with the aftermarket can!

but the one you are looking at should have 20-25k before needs doing.

Good bike, keep em serviced and they go for ever. Replace cam chains at recommended interval though and run oil system cleaner before your first oil change as if you dont use the decent stuff they can block a bit.
My VTZ (technically the same) has been one of my more rewarding bike experiences and if your prepared to spend a little on a good set of rubber they corner like nobodys business!

Yah, I was looking at a Spada myself for a first bike - just the little ol'Hornet won out (the Spadas that were around weren't looked after well, no reflection on the bike - just the owners! :oi-grr:
