Ahh what a wheeze that was! :rofl: Thoroughly good entertainment and precipatation is a serious condiment which spices one's life up! The art of shovelling with a fine tool is never to be underestimated indeed! I well remember when my brother and I oohed and aahed over various implements in those halls of Mitre10 just this week past - debating the fine merits of sweat shop made tools in asiatic countries and the agreeable price range was heartily chortled!

I note that rain gauge technology has advanced with the times and fine outlets like Dick Smith have equipment for a nominal price to predict the vagaries in the outlook for one's sojourns outdoors!

And say no more about the issue of humidity, which can affect one's land holding value and chattels within! The spectre of mildew and mould along the fascias and lining of boards can preclude the horrid invasion of airborne infections among the family. Happenstance finds accoutrements and equipage of various kinds that can combat this menace, from the cheap contents of a chemical ball that can absorb moisture to the range of electrical dehumidifers that can operate around the clock is a marvellous thing.

Do not neglect the use of ducting through roofs either! Yes, Eric Olthwaite has done a public deed through his civil minded obsession with these issues. I have dwelt on them and given them the due they deserved, with consideration and much discernment to the validity of their application in our every day lives.

On a side digression, the interesting interplay of the economic metaphor and political value of the Mayor and Bank manager has directed me on the course of Monetarian and Keynesian theories of how these practices can impact on the plight of the hoi-polloi. Eric's erstwhile companion in crime was a sociological response to the terror of reformation of the industrial age. A lumpen-proletariat mask with neo-luddite overtones? Mayhap so!

This viginette of life masquerading as a tale of "Ripping Yarns" has also explored the complex interleaving of family, relationships and societal expectations. Eric's parents feigned ignorance and poor parental skills by allowing Eric to become ingrained in his ways. His sister, telling the truth as it is was shot down by the authority of the parents. Ergo, his boring persona was rejected by the girl upstairs until his alter-ego emerged as a rapscallion, Robin-hood type character, which captured her imagination and gives pause to the cliche ... that girls prefer the bad boys!

And if you are still reading this by now, your minutae attention to the deux ex machina which I posit here, means the satire of this show and my faux analytical stance to hyperbolise this thread puts you in the rank of the inane and insane. I know. Because it takes one to know one! :msn-wink:
