1 hour til i get my bike.....counting seconds here....
Cool choice of bike. I have a red GT as well. Looks fantastic. Didn't take me long to venture onto the motorway, so it wont be long before you are rocking on up to Whenuapai for the RRRS course.

Hey carbacca, best way to get around this from my experience...all of a month....is pull sickies from work....priorities  have new toy will play. If you can buddy up with an experienced rider I highly recommend that....ohhh and riderskills ROCK. I left home @ 5am to dodge majority of traffic for my lesson, lesson started @ 9:30am :o ....so yes the
since i am a complete knob is shared amongst most newbies

Get those plates....makes a big difference.....people tend to give you a bit more room :ride:

still havent gone riding yet >_< only got insurance sorted on monday, managed to get all the bits needed to LEGALLY ride bolted on today.
cant forget that loser plate. had to track one of the old ones down, i blame LTSA; the new ones (the thin film ones that cling to the glass) are impossible to use with a bike

Holy crap! :eek5: Were you buying stuff with gold stitching or sommat!? I bought all my gear (full two piece zip together leathers, helmet, tinted visor, glubs, booties) for a grand total of about $900 brand new... and it's all quality gear too. Only thing is I don't really have wet weather gear yet.
whoa [img] dont work around here?~?~?~?~
Nope, [img] tags are disabled. You have to use html if you want to imbed images in threads... though generally it's preferred by the mods if you limit this to smaller images, as it's less frustrating for those limited to using dialup. Or something like that anyway. But just for you:

finally went out for a n00bie ride yay. was only about 45 mins though (i am still far too tense hecen i am working myself up)
had a bit of a problem with the engine going off, it would go off when i ease back on the throttle to stop, and when the idling gets too low (had to keep it abot 3000rpm to stop it going off) but then the problem went away as soon as i got home (can quite happily idle away at 1500rpm >_<) i figured its the engine not warm enough. am i right??

Hey ya Carbacca, good stuff for getting on a bike and nice stuff for getting the GT250R! I'm also on the "L" plates and Hyosung too.
Dead right with the engine not being warm enough. Try using the choke with a little throttle when you start it in the mornings, leave the choke on for no more than a minute and it shouldn't stop. I had the same sort of problem with mine when I first got it.
Hope that helps

but then its not really a "choke" is it really?? cos its not messing with the fuel mixture at all, just a manual throttle

Umm... not quite sure what you're getting at here...
What I do in the mornings, especially when it's cold, is move the clutch lever all the way towards me. I also use a bit of throttle initially just to make sure it doesn't die before the richer fuel-air mix gets to the engine. When it does I don't need to use the throttle anymore. I push the clutch lever all the way forward after no more than a minute once the engine has had plenty of time to warm up.
Hope that clears it up.
