Most countries forces do, and not just special forces...theres always a time and a place.

In fact, if anyones ever seen the doco on drug history, alot of amphetamine usage came from doctors prescribing it to housewives in the 50's (I think) who wanted to blow some weight. I recall one woman talking about how the "black bombers" (named due to their size and colour) not only helped with weight loss but also enabled rather vigorous house cleaning to be done (since that was the womans place back then....:shifty:)

He apparently had a not very healthy relationship with his mother (no, not that unhealthy) as the result of being the only one of the male kids that survived early childhood, and went even more doo-lally when she karked it.

but they must have all been loopy, hitler was just one man.
the others (most of the country in the beginning) went along with it for a while, so they must have thought it was a good idea at the time.
