Is the Hayabusa the fastest bike ever? or is it just the fastest production bike, if so which is the fastest bike is it the MTT Y2K superbike the one that has a rolls royce helecopter turbine engine in it?

And do any of you guys have a bike that can go over 280km/hr?

Publicity sells bikes,Suzuki have made a legend and spun it for all it's worth, you are part of the spin.Ah,it was much more simple when kids were more naive - the Vincent speedo said 150mph - we were awed...the fastest bike ever.

I saw one outside a bike shop in,I think, Te Awamutu or thereabouts.Best bit about it was that this one was dusty and had worn tyres,i.e. some guy was using it for what it was intended for and it wasn`t stashed away in a garage somewhere doing 5 miles a year and getting polished 3 times a week while the owner watches the prices going up.
As for the Hyabusas top speed here at least they`re now restricted because good old Suzuki`s trumpetting got do-gooders all over Europe pointing at the adverts and threatening to ban bikes capable of such speeds. That`s looking more and more of a certainty in the U.K. as record numbers of bikers kill themselves and the the main cause has changed from cars pulling out to bikers losing control while speeding.Devon and Cornwall Police have recently directly suggested to the government that a ban on the more powerful stuff is brought in cos they`re fed up of shovelling blood and guts then having to explain to some guys parents that he wont be home for tea.The ineptitude of the manufacturers dosnt help, their answer to government requests for a bit of self-control was met by a "voluntary limit",that being that they limit bikes to 180m.p.h.,i.e. nearly 150% higher than the national speed limit,piss-taking like that deserves to get slapped down I`m afraid.

My riding partner has an unrestricted 'busa and it kills my Blackbird throughout the accelleration range and top speed although the 'bird is still good for around 290km/hr. The downside of the 'busa is that it eats rear tyres. My mate averages less than 4000km. The bird averages a bit over 6000 km so there's always a downside to performance! Buying one is only part of the cost.:2thumbsup

I would love to have a bike that has rear tyres that last that long. Both the VTR and the R1 would give me about 3500km MAX. Me thinks it is more the riding style and judicious use of the throttle than the bike

Most of my spare money goes into investments rather than tyres, so I'm easy on the acceleration which is the real tyre destroyer! I'm also a bit de-tuned at present due to a lack of riding and also writing off my Subaru a few months ago :crybaby:

I'd be interested in what conditions that run was performed under and what development the bike had,as I didn't think any stock Hayabusa had clocked the 320km mark.

When John Hepburn set the NZ record a few years back the average of the runs was about 315km.

Kawasaki were meant to be attempting to break that with a ZX12 but the day it was to be tried it was called off because of the weather and I think the bike wasn't ready

My R1 has 180 bhp (with ram air), and is limited to 300km/h. Been up to 250km/h so far. I haven't had the chance/balls to take it to 300 yet. My skill level is low enough so I can spend the next couple of years "growing into" the bike.

There are so many different bikes, it depends what you want it for I think. Some have high top speeds, some are quick off the mark, etc...

pretty much any 2004 litre sports bike will do 300kmh and have 180hp, Death Inc had a ZX12-R and he said that is the only bike that is really pulling (still) at 300kmh..... Old man has a Blackbird which pulls like afucking train....

fastest ROAD bike i know of will be Ghost Riders Busa Turbo, 499hp at the wheel and has a top speed of about 350kmh.........on one wheel hehehe

personally riding 600's doing 230-260 is fast enough for me at the moment.....

They got a nice silver ZX12 too,1 careful owner,never been wheelied/thrashed....
When I had it,I raced a couple of busa's at the drags, one stocker that I beat at the top end(muffler on the 12 only) and one really modded one(lowered heaps and pipe pc porting ect) that beat me,but only pulled away over the first 60',after that I could hold him,but couldn't make up for the start.
The euro mags generally had the 12 first the busa second, the yanks normally the other way round......only 3-4 k's between them though......
My 12 pulled 330kph on the speedo, which was actually about 307(calculated)and it pulled hard all the way there, and would do it in a real short space, but you usta run out of space real fast,so I never found out what it would do if I let it wind right out.It did 340 kph on the rpm limiter at the coldkiwi last year doing a burnout though

My mate that recently brought a Busa looked at a ZX12 too, I rode this bike while he had it out on demo....... it was volatile totally insane, mind you it was a bike selling down here as it came from up north somewere (someone may know of it) it was a x drag bike green, lowered, full Muzzy system, there was a hole in the single seat cowle were I asume there was an ariel for timming and it had dark green wheels.
Give me the Busa anyday, mind you I should realy ride a stock ZX12....... oh yeah the idle on that 12 was up and down and all over the place something to do with the power comander.

so that was YOUR old bike? Geez that was good to watch. :shit: The bloke was lucky to only cut his number plate in half and not waste his rear light when the steel belts went flying! :Punk:

I sold it because I had too many near misses at high (250+) speeds, the handling wasn't up to the way I ride.......
I only ever got 10.5 secs @ about 227kph,too much wheelspin/wheelies.Did a 11.5 on the rear wheel all the way though......
It took me about 15 mins to unwind all the belts from the rear brakes afterward.....

Cool bikes, the Busa ZX12 ,I have always wanted to take one for a ride but could never imagine owning one,I think a ZX10, R1,or Gixxer thou would be as far as I would go even those would probably to much for me,I dont know but someone who has ridden both could answer (eg.gixxer 1000 and say a Busa) is the acceleration the same? is it just a difference in handling?

Yeah, and he's *another* Te Atatu dweller.

The suburb is crawling with motorcycles, it seems.

No,the acceleration is very different, the thou's are sorta peppier, but the 12's and busa's pull harder longer. The acceleration on the thou's is from power/weight,where the busa's/12's comes from power/torque/aerodynamics.(obviously weight comes into play too,but this is so you get the idea of the different way they work...)A thou will prolly win 100-200kph but a bus or 12 will win 250-300+.It's all in the torque they make....
