I'll refrain from using nasty language:
Some 'little rascal' nicked my helmet from my motorcycle sometime during school. It was deliberately cut off because the buckle was left around the helmet lock underneath the pillion seat. Whoever it was wasn't the most intelligent person around as this rendered the helmet useless, but as if they really needed it. It's just some klepto trophy now.
I'm going to talk to my Dean tomorrow about it, and I was suggested to talk to the police since the bike was parked outside of school grounds.
I doubt this is a personal attack. It's most likely some opportunist or some year 9 homie that still thinks stealing for the hell of it is cool.
Luckily this was an old helmet that was due for replacement 4 hard knocks ago. But I still want to catch the 'little rascal' and castrate him, don't want their kind breeding.
Really, really, ultra, uber ticked off right now.

Yep, I'm ultra paranoid when it comes to the old lid - I don't mind the hassle of carrying it around with me and wonder about the others who do use the ol'helmet lugs on their rides...
I'm wondering about getting one of those plastic coated wire-mesh helmet keepers when I do have to ..
Nah, just keep hanging onto it!

With a bit of luck, justice will prevail. Said 'little rascal' will use the helmet while riding his/mates bike and make a f**k up. While doing his Superman impression through the air, the strapless helmet will depart his brainless head. Hopefully he will have time to think "oh shit' before Darwin reclaims him.

I don't take it with me into school cause 1: I have nowhere to keep it, 2: you look like a dick that's trying to show off 'hey, I have a helmet, I'm cool' and 3: everyone will ask to wear it and get all shitty when I don't let them.
The helmet was due for replacement anyway. It would be better to spend my money on the new helmet. I'll be lucky if I even get this old one back. If I do it'll probably be abandoned somewhere in school with obvious mallet damage.

If justice did indeed prevail at our school, we would've found this theif that's been stealing phones from the library all this year. They must've made thousands by now.
As I said it's unlikely that they would ever use the helmet, they just took it because they could and they are idiots. They'll be showing all their mates and their mates will think they're totally skux (huttite slang for 'playa' which is ethnic american slang for someone who sleeps with a lot of women)

Coyote, if it is possible to look at the bright side of things, just see this as a way to make you safer. If your lid has had a few knocks then this is an opportunity to replace it with something that will protect you to a much better standard.
Hopefully the "skux" will find the weakpoint of the helmet whilst travelling through the air at a great rate of knots prior to impacting a solid object...

Could you claim on your parents home and contents insurance for your helmet? Just pay the excess and get a better quality one? Or is that not a viable option.
I do hope that this gets sorted for you dude. Go talk to people like the receptionist at your school, they normally see a lot of people walking around and might have seen the 'lil rascal' who did this. Otherwise they could slip it into the newsletter, let them know that they could have actually done a bit of harm to you if you had to of riden home without your helmet.
Believe it or not schools are actually out there for the students best interests, and if not... tell ERO or someone else like that! Complain about the school ethos ;)

My bike was on a street across from the school (by the main road). Once I finally get hold of one of my Deans and spread the word hopefully there will be at least one witness or a friend that'll dob them in for money. Having the bike somweher that isn't public is asking for more trouble

Well I was going to replace it soon, but I'd have at least liked to keep the visor off it in case I get another HJC with a tinted visor. But still, it's an inconvienience, it's still something I paid for stolen and it's a matter of principle. People shoudn't be able to get away with this

It's only a cheap HJC, not worth loosing the no claims bonus which will cost more than the helmet within a year.
I asked reception about it since it was right outside their window, but they referred me to the 'Blake House' deans.
This is college, not primary. The teachers and others in charge have to deal with kids like the one who took my helmet and have grown to judge all kids by the lowest common denominator. They're looking more for their best interests, expelling a kid makes their school look bad. However as of yet they haven't stood in my way, but that's because I haven't been able to get hold of anyone that can help.

Man, thats just shit, its one of the reasons why I dont ride to school, the few times that i have some of these little 'homie' faggots have been hanging round my gsx checking it out, probably looking for something loose to break off it. Easy fix really, leave a sign on your bike saying that if someone touches it that you'll snap their necks. I didnt need to cos now they know that the guy who rides the bike is a massive fuck. But the little sign was my second option.

One of my many different jobs is at a local primary school and I often ride my Harley up there. The kids ooh, and they ahh and leave it alone. When I can I put it in a shed but if I DID catch any of the little angels touching it I'd probably be able to put the fear of (a) god into them verbally. However, many teens are quite big buggers and a group of them could prove to be a larger hurdle should they decide that HD's are less than worthy to be parked on their patch. If I was in doubt I'd catch the bus, walk or buy a wee jappa cage for transport, leaving my pride and joy (complete with helmet) in the shed.
With a large dog.
It sucks to have your gear ripped off, bummer. Roll on the day when GPS units are the size of microdots.

Yes, I realise they're dirtbike helmets but they look so much cooler than all the other road bike helmets around. Ideally I'd get the exact same one as the old one, that was a really good lookin helmet and it was cheap
Also at WMCC they have a sale on V-Can plain black helmets, $99. They're not very exciting but they'd do the job for well within budget

My brothers grandson goes to college in Upper Hutt area and from what I hear of it there are a lot of things could be a whole lot better there.
The disappointing thing is that he is a very good at sports and has excelled at rugby boxing and swimming but he is compelled by some quirky rule that he is compelled to play sports for the college rather than an independent club.
Apparently and that means mixing it with the bogans from the school who are just not interested in anything but wasting time and energy and pissing about so now he doesn't bother.
At least he has a bike now and takes his frustrations out on that so I suppose he will be facing all the same problems that you are with helmets and other gear being interfered with when having to leave them unattended.
Hutt valley is my old stamping ground as a youth and it disappoints me to hear that the standard of freedom and trust that we enjoyed has deteriorated so much.
One thing I like about KB is that it gives me the chance to read posts from all age groups and allows me to keep in touch with the things that you youngsters have to contend with in your day to day lives that otherwise I would have no idea about.
I enjoy reading your posts and sharing your problems (and the good news too of course). Thanks for sharing. Cheers John.

I know what you mean by school sports, they also try to force the whole 'house groups' onto us. Every sporting event we do earns points for our house and the house with the most points wins. One house is named after a guy that was killed by pirates, another after some fat guy who made some movies, another after an opera singer of all people and another by some dude who climbed a big hill.

All the parking spaces within the school are taken up by teachers. I wish teachers still had the cane, now they're not allowed to punish the poor little darlings that just had a hard life that has made them this way, poor things. The principle would even pat their heads before letting them run off into the playground to frolick but then the little bastard would turn around and say assult and the principle would get into shit, so they just smile nicely
Dad's a teacher. I hear all about the PC bullshit and workload forced upon them
I thought where I parked the bike was a good spot. Easily visible from the front of school, plenty of traffic going by. Sure, the helmet was in the open so people could notice it was there but I thought being a public spot would deter them. You just can't win, there's no security cameras I could park by and even then it wouldn't deter some dick wearing a hoodie, kicking it over, and the grainy camera wouldn't have seen a thing

i had a locker that was used for my books... no way would a motorbike helmet fit inside with a stack of books!
i know what ya mean about parking in public... meant to be safer, but on the flip side, passers by dont know that its not their bike and that something dodgy is actually going on. i try and park out of the way if i can. use a park a block over from town, rather than right in town.

It's funny how you innocently say that as you believe that should be the case. But that's exactly what the hockey players have to do, carry their sicks around, and the guitar players carry their guitars in their cases wherever they go (except they must be left outside the hall in an assembly unguarded and so too in the library locker room which is ungaurded)
They'd suggest getting 2 lockers
And there's nowhere else I can really park it. Kinda stuck there
