just bought a bike for my boys to learn on 88 suzy 250 was on tardme rego on hold cheap as

I tried selling mine on trademe and couldn't get what I wanted for it - so plan to just keep it and "do it up" a bit over winter (because I won't go near my new bike with anything but petrol).

Nice buy. Lucky kids.

P.S. I have the factory service manual; let me know if you need any pages photocopied or scanned.

oh btw I got offered one of those fairly mint, needed the carbs cleaned. for $500 you should hassled him to go below $1000 :shifty: (i was looking at that bike too)

Good stuff mate, should serve your boys well. They just go and go, can't seem to overheat them, handle well (with decent tyres), great fuel milage, and nippy enough to keep you interested... unless you're trying to overtake on the open road. I've got the factory service manual for mine as well :)

the guy selling it is a hard up uni student so i dont mind adding to his beer money fund and unless you know about the bargains they arnt any good to you but i am happy with what i paid, the boys can learn to ride without doing damage to fairings etc and if it shits itself i will dump it in the harbour:shit:

They're pretty difficult to kill though, all going well. Keep oil in the motor and let it warm up first, it'll be good as gold. If it plays up when the weather is wet, pull apart the electrical connections, clean them up good, and reseal them with plenty of goo. Great bike to learn on, mine's done me really well. Can be hustled along through the twisties too, if you're in the mood! Keeps the bigger bikes honest.

I loved my old NZ250S, errr....Dev Esq's one...cough....
They're great machines, unreal fuel economy, and good handling.
However, it is a bit unsettlling when ya Missus drag's you off on her VT250...
