Eureka...!! I’ve discovered there IS a second childhood..... Had to leave the first one behind when we had twins, mortgage etc, but I just had my 50th and bugger me, my family gave me a shiny new KDX200 (and a bright green cake.....). I’m off up to Woodhill tomorrow for the “Power” ride, can’t wait... So, if you see a greying, elderly gentleman lying on the ground, panting and sweating profusely, with “OLD FART” (thanks kids) on the front number plate, please ride carefully round him..... :bye:

I was at a mates for his daughter's birthday party yesterday and he mentioned that one of our old mates had received a new bike from his daughters for his 50th!! :Punk: So if you are Phil, Welcome to KB, and have a great ride today - Weather should be perfect!!

PS
"Old Mates" = Mates from a "few" years ago, :dodge: We're all kids at heart!!

Hi Leong, yes it is I, Phil. I’d heard you were having some fun with your track days. We must get together for a catch up...I even found the RC12i in the shed recently.....

I surprised myself at Woodhill today, straight back into it head wise, but the bodies got a bit of catching up to do. I rode three laps of the short track and four laps of the long track by 2pm, but the blisters got the better of me and I packed up early. The KDX is everything I hoped for, so easy to ride, really pleased with it. Tracks had a little of everything, even a bit of clay!
What really impressed me about the ride was how laid back the organisation was and huge number of female riders of all ages. If this is representative of your average modern trail ride, we’re onto a winner...........Thanks to Greg Power and his band of merry helpers. Very cool day...

Welcome aboard the site. Think of it not so much as a second childhood or mid-life crisis - more of just getting back to what you were doing before you were (rudely?) interupted by children/mortgages/whatever!

Glad you had a good day. Yes, we must catch up sometime. I've been meaning to go see a trail ride at some stage, so if you let me know next time you're out I'll come out for a look see!

Hi Richard.... Dark side eh?.....Hmmmm, I have a lime green bike and matching green and pink riding gear, yours is all black, so who's gone to the dark side????

I had to make a choice between a track bike (was favouring gixer 750) or a dirt bike and figured I'd live longer and get more riding off road. I've never been keen on commuting on a bike, I have tools to cart around and don't know how to go slow, bikes are for sport, I'd loose my license in a jiffy on Auckland streets.

With a bit of luck, I'll still get a track bike a bit later on and am thinking along the lines of an early 750 Katana to relive the the glory days at Manfield.......

Cheers, Phil.

Thanks Wellyman, I had an E1 KDX back in '89, transplanted the motor in to a '91 KX125 and rode that for a couple of years until a busted shoulder put me out of action for a while. Sold it to a mate, who still rides it, it's been to the moon and back 10 times, but is still on it's original bottom end and cylinder. Bullet proof? you bet......

I had an early Steel tank KDX 200 a couple of years ago. and was pretty damn unbrekable, but was hard to ride with the amount of weight that the steel tank and steel frame had.

Hey good on ya! New KDX200 see ya on the Mr Motorcylces rides they are great fun!!

Oh by the way the "2nd child hood" is called "mid life Crisis" and it is the best fun a bloke could have. I'm stuck in the middle of it and I hope it never ends. Bloody near killed me B4 xmas on the VTR1000 but a shit load of fun all the same. Still on the Z1 though and riding the Cr twice a week. Awesome fun!!!

Went to Thunder X today (Kimis was closed), its bloody bloody muddy or Sicky slippery clay. Like walkin/paddling your bike up alot of the tracks. Mud up past the axles in the holes and "slick as" on the clay tracks. After flyin through the air every Wednesday at Ardmore, it wasn't fun. 3 of us took an hour to do the B track alone. I was 2 hours at the bikes B4 dark and only cleaned 1 1/2 and the gear out of 3. Please God shine some sun on that place! Should have gone to the Woodhill ride. Still I wanted clay and got it 10 fold.
Cya all!!

Yeah, the Mr Motorcycles trail rides were the main reason for getting the bike (bought it from them too) Enjoying the Woodhill rides at this time of year, but prefer wide open spaces. Roll on summer. Been riding mountain bike at least once a week at Woodhill as well, trying to get into shape...Well "round" is a shape... :bye:
