I was walking the dog at the river during the weekend and day dreaming away. The words of a tune that was popular on the radio back in the 60's just came into my head.

A bit of the chorus went like this

If there's one thing that I like
It's a burn up on my bike
A burn up with bird up on my bike

Another line was

the M1 (motorway) ain't much fun when try to do the ton

It was UK song sung with a sort of slurred teddy-boy accent
Anyone remember this? Someone with an MP3 version would be the ultimate.

JUST FOR KICKS
(Mike Sarne)
MIKE SARNE (PARLOPHONE R 4974, 1963)

If there's one thing that I like
It's a burn up on my bike
A burn up with a bird up on my bike
Now the M1 ain't much fun
Till you try and do a ton
A burn up on my bike, that's what I like

Just for kicks, I ride all through the night
My bird hangs on in fright
When I do the ton for kicks

When my bird decides to turn up
I'm off to have a burn up
A burn up with a bird up on my bike
When I pass a little scooter
I blast him with my hooter
A burn up on my bike, that's what I like

Just for kicks, I ride all through the night
My bird hangs on in fright
When I do the ton for kicks

We meet the other ton-up boys at Fred's Cave every night
We just drop in to see the birds and sometimes have a bite
We spend a couple of hours just tunin' our machines
With our black leather jackets and our oily greasy jeans

If there's one thing that I like
It's a burn up on my bike
A burn up with a bird up on my bike
Now the M1 ain't much fun
Till you try and do a ton
A burn up on my bike, that's what I like

Just for kicks, I ride all through the night
My bird hangs on in fright
When I do the ton for kicks

Just for kicks, I ride all through the night
My bird hangs on in fright
When I do the ton for kicks

Also recorded by Black Cat (EP For Rockers Only)

Actually...

A CD with all the truely cool bike songs would be pretty groovey...

The one above plus...

Born to be Wild
Black Denim Trousers
'52 Vincent Black Lightening

any others?

What about the classic one with the chick at the party whose bike boyfriends nevers turns up? Can't remember the name of that one - it's a 50s tune.

Or is that in bad taste?

This site has hundreds of them:

I tried to past their list in but it was 105,376 characters and you can only post 10,000 characters in this forum in any one go.

Anyone wanna make up a collection of biking songs for the rally?

Or as a last resort, make up a list and I will try and find them all and stick em on a CD.

What are the best songs involving bikes?

Actually, maybe I'll start a new thread titled that....

And there's Bat out of Hell by Meatloaf

And what was that older bike crash one "Tell Lorra I love Her"
Pukey song but still relevant - as a be-careful reminder

I'd be a starter for a CD

The version I know of "tell laura I love her" - Howard (what sort of name is that?) dies in a stock car race.
But if you can have that then I can have Deep Purples "Highway Star" - more of a V8 anthem but still needs to be in
