View Full Version : Does a sporty need a tacho?

I am looking for a tachometer for my 883 sportster, so I'm needing the double bracket too. Thing is, do I really need it or is it just for looks? I would like one to set the idle and to know when I'm giving her too much of a thrash but I can probably tell both of those things by ear if you get down to it.
Who has done the addition? there are a lot of 883/1200's out there so there are probably a few tachos been added too.
And if anyone has a double bracket and/or a tacho they don't want (or want to sell more) then drop me a line please.

My lady has a 1200 Sporty, no tacho...she can thrash it or do whatever, she always gets the revs right on the button. At the end of the day, as you say, you can get it right if you get down to it.
Save yourself some bucks and trust your heart/ears.

As an ex pillion on one of things, I can honestly say, when your pillion bangs on the back of your helmet over and over and then leaps off the back, slaps you about a bit and refuses to get back on means you have been exceeding the acceptable limits of the revolutions of the bikes engine......:innocent:

Possibly, could also mean the rider is deaf, having too much fun or you're a blouse..............and the beating is a flirtatious gesture.
Dunno.

Ah, so that is from not changing gear at the right rev time?

'Batted' or 'battered' your eyelashes? The latter sounds a bit fishy. However, why were you beating the rider when said rider was still ensconced within a helmet. Wouldn't the bashing be more effective after it was removed?
Call me a smartarse if you like but I can spot a thicko a mile off.

It might if your rider is trying to escape the clutches of a revenue collector.

Dyers and I seem to be popular tonight. So, Mister Smarty Pants Dyers, what model of motorcycle is Triumph Accessory? Sounds a bit bling for me.
(Actually, I wore some smarty pants once, to a wedding; mine, then I got divorced. I'll never wear them again.)
Sporty tacho???

Especially if she's got some sort of animal in tow, ask Howard Broad, the police commissioner, he'd know.

I still can't understand why you'd bash a helmet, try a naked skull next time, you might get the rider's attention.
And...........what model of bike is a Triumph Accessory?

It is a very special model...........:innocent:
And apologies to Wired1 for hijacking his thread........with any luck you will find the bracket and tacho you are looking for.......personally having ridden the 883, you really should feel/hear when you are taking things to far........the note of the engine changes from a yeah yeah sound to a OK! thats enough sound......sorry I dont do sound effects.
