You know, I never look at the front page. And never saw that message till today. Was posted 8th of May.
Yeah Dave.
It has only received 173 views so far... so it seems not many members of KB read the front/home page.
Its a pretty important post though.
So it will stay up a while longer.

Important? Compared to what?
Testicular cancer or third world hunger important?
Important? Compared to what? Are we being a tad smart?
Important, in how KB will be run from now on - if you are an active member of the site, it might be of interest to know who does what around here.

Are we being a tad smart?
Nah, that's way too out of character for me.
Just seems like much of a muchness to me, site was run by one dude, in charge of some other dudes, not it's not actively run by that dude, but the other dudes are still there.
Will we notice any difference, no, so why the big fuss.

Why do you always have to be so difficult? :zzzz:
Build a bridge.... ____/--------\____ get over it.
Will we notice any difference, no, so why the big fuss. Not a big fuss - however people like to pm Spank and ask questions, complain or what ever.
It is important for those people to know who should be contacted.
There has also been a lot more abuse on KB than in the past, we felt that needed to be mentioned too.
Just to keep things running smooth.
Yes, we know in the big picture of the world its not a biggie - but in KB world its might be handy to keep in mind and know.

Agreed. Come on people. Show some common sense and support for the Mods. Maintaining and controlling us lot is no easy task and very time consuming. Give them a break.

That's faulty - I can read the whole message without clicking on it, and no doubt others can too, so it's not registering the actual numbers reading it.

I don't think viewing it on the homepage adds to the view count.

Well my shortcut is to /forums/ so I never see the front page. Had to go there just now to see what it was all about.
It lookeed a bit whiney and I was a little disappointed that it was necessary. There's obviously a bunch of stuff going on that I (thankfully) never noticed or hear about.
I think the majority of people in KB are not disruptive so I would prefer to see positive stuff in public and miscreants dealt with swiftly and comprehensively in private.

Well, I just did a refresh of the homepage and the view count did not go up. I clicked the link and the view count did not go up. I did a full refresh of the various pages and the view count did not go up so I don't think we can trust that number right now. Couldn't tell you why.

Yes, although I was unimpressed to discover you had turned commenting off. I guess, to a certain extent, that was the overall message of the post - i.e. you don't get to comment on it. But still.
I agree with Dave. Is there nothing more positive than a reminder of the police state to put on the front page? And the "project hope foundation" ride has been and gone.

Most people probably have a favourite linked to the forums and use the remember password feature. That way you never see the homepage unless you click on home....
I only saw it cause i was on a computer i hadn't logged in with before. And I do feel very told off.....

I scan the RSS feeds first, and from that point on just use "New Posts". Cant see the point in going to the home page, it's just "in the way" when trying to get to the good stuff.
Have used KB spy once or twice, but prefer New Posts. Dunno why, just personal preference.
For the record, I too hadn't seen that message until BD posted this thread.

One of the reasons commenting was turned off was due to the amount of abuse and shit being posted on the forum, we didn't want the thread turning into another shit fight. Never did we say this wasn't to be discussed or commented on, in fact it says we appreciate feedback, after all it is the members who help make the site what it is. However it is the senior mod's who decide how things run here after SpankMe's announcement.

If you use the 'New Posts' button you would have seen it after it was posted.

view counts are not updated instantly, but every hour or so.

If I was online when it was posted. I don't tend to go back too far into older posts, normally no further than the first page of results. By then I'm getting bored and ready to move onto something else.

Yeah, well I've been lucky to have never been caught in the crossfire or even really noticed it going on ... other than people being sin-binned, Winja disappearing completely and the appearance of infractions and grief like that which is on the front page. I do "get it", but think that turning comments off for something of that level of importance maybe sent the wrong message.

That'll be it, then. (number's gone up now, eh)
Dave
I always start at Homepage and then click on new posts and I think I saw this one when it was first posted and have noticed on the Homepage since but never actually read it again.
As I'm not the sort that gets upsets or whines loudly it was of little direct interest to me.

I always go to the home page! That is generally where I go to look at what new posts have been made, I tried doing the kbspy thing but it got confusing!
So yeah, I read that message like the day it was on there!! But didn't click the link (so wouldnt have added to the view count) as I didn't need to and there were no posts in the thread

hardly ever read it... maybe for a summary of calendar events if I'm after the rides for the next day or something, but thats it.
No sense logging in, only to have to click on forums, then new posts... too much effort :zzzz:

Log on to front page then click on the new post link easy as.
Problem is one needs to log in each day just to keep ahead of the posts. A couple of days not logging in leaves 20 odd pages to sift through. Shows how popular the site is.:scooter:
