Hi all,

In the spirit of the U choose 40 list on C4 on Sunday, what are your most memorable break up or dumping songs.

To get you started, C4 had:
Pretty much everything by Evanescence
Boys to Men: End of the road.

If it's something vague, please provide some context.

Cheers,

Mods, please feel free to move this to PD if you want.

That horrible "don't want you back" song that came out a few years ago. Then some chick did a version back to him which was even worse.
Guess the context would be a 'I hate you, get away from me' one

Before the 2 legged jackals get here, this is not a reference to going to the toilet.

Babe I'm Gonna Leave You by Led Zeppelin. My favourite song by them, its gotta be in here because of the title alone.

That one ballad song, "I'm all out of love" by Air Supply. They played it in one of the South Park episodes (The Goth one titled "Raisins")... The song faded in, and I couldn't help but laugh and feel sorry for Stan at the same time

Another one I thought of: Nilsson - Without You...

Although it almost borders on being a suicide break-up song
I can't live if living is without you
I can't live, I can't give any more
Can't live if living is without you
I can't give, I can't give any more

True that! It amazes me what crap gets to the top of the charts some days.

My picks:

1. Pretty Noose - Soundgarden ("Pretty noose is pretty hate")
2. Rearviewmirror - Pearl Jam
3. Babe I'm Gonna Leave You - Led Zeppelin

Babe I'm Gonna Leave You by Led Zeppelin. My favourite song by them, its gotta be in here because of the title alone.

Re-mastered that still sounds pretty good on a quality sound system. Atlantic records couldn't get the mix right on any of LZ's albums. Praise be for Jimmy for sorting it all out a few years ago.

Annie Lennox- No more I love you's
Baker, Butler, Moore- Where in the world?
Black Sabbath- Changes
The Who- Won't get fooled again

......and a few more besides but they are so old I doubt many on KB would even have heard of them. Besides, I haven't had a breakup for....ooh, more than three years now.

Don't think I'll ever use a song to break up with someone.... but as well as some of the other songs listed I'd suggest Evanescence - Going Under.

That would be Three Days Grace - I Hate Everything About You.That's not a dumping/break-up song, contrary to popular belief. The singer wrote it whilst in rehab - it's about drug addictions and how some people hate it and what it does to them, but they can't say no because it has control of them.

A rather intellectual bloke, he is.

I don't know why it hasnt been posted but

Mötley Crüe - Don't Go Away Mad (Just Go Away)

is the best break up song ever.

We could sail away
Or catch a freight train
Or a rocketship into outer space
Nothin' left to do
Too many things were said
To ever make it feel
Like yesterday did

Seasons must change
Separate paths, separate ways
If we blame it on anything
Let's blame it on the rain

I knew it all along
I'd have to write this song
Too young to fall in love
Guess we knew it all along

That's alright, that's okay
We were walkin' through some youth
Smilin' through some pain
That's alright, that's okay
Let's turn the page My friends called today
Down from L.A.
They were shooting pool all night
Sleeping half the day
They said I could crash
If I could find my own way
I told them you were leaving
On a bus to go away

That's alright, that's okay
We were two kids in love
Trying to find our way
Thats's alright, that's okay
Held our dreams in our hands
Let our minds run away
That's alright, that's okay
We were walkin' through some youth
Smilin' through some pain
That's alright, let's turn the page
And remember what I say girl
And it goes this way

Girl, don't go away mad...
Girl, just go away

Girl, don't go away mad...
Girl, just go away

Girl, don't go away mad...
Girl, just go away

Girl, don't go away mad...
Girl, just go away

Girl, don't go away mad...
Girl, just go away
