View Full Version : Race number scenario

Here's an interesting one.

Rider A, has been racing a while, mostly in F3. Get's his number (lets call it 20) allocated by MNZ for his class and all's fine and dandy.

New rider, "B", comes along and registers with MNZ his number (20 for arguments sake) for the two classes he intends on competeing in, Sports production and Production Superbike.

Now for an upcoming meeting, Rider A decides that he'll cross enter into F2 (Sports production) listing number 20 as his race number. Rider B has already entered in F1 and F2 with his MNZ issued number for both classes.

Who should change for the F2 races?

The rider with the MNZ number has the right to keep 20. The other rider doesn't have a leg to stand on if he disputes that.

Not attatched to it at all. But the number was allocated by MNZ for the classes rider B races in. He's already changed the numbers on the bike twice, and fucked it up once before, he REALLY doesn't wanna change again. So he did the right thing, called MNZ, they said "Sweet Mr B. You're now number 20 in F2 and F1"

He said "Thanks."

A few questions for ya White trash:

1. Who has the most money?
2. Who is the better rider?
3. Who is the biggest rider?
4. Who's got the most friends?
5. Who's got the most beer?
6. Who is willing to share his missus? (ok, so that's abit off topic...)
7. Why can't ya cross enter into the sidecar class?..........

You do realise it makes squat difference --we have transponders --Ill just be 2 in F2 and 20 in F3 --
No need to change the bike numbers

1. Who has the most money?

Ummmm, both of them are broke

2. Who is the better rider?

Both have been complemented but only one is good enough to be offered a bike

3. Who is the biggest rider?

They're both runts but only one's confident to paint his bike pink

4. Who's got the most friends?

They're both fairly highly regarded but rider B probably has the biggest, nastiest, most sin binned friends

6. Who is willing to share his missus? (ok, so that's abit off topic...)

Ummmm, probably rider A

7. Why can't ya cross enter into the sidecar class?..........

Coz we've got a couple too many skills and learnt how to ride without training wheels at age 3

Lots of points to think about Scrivy. Thanks :D

rofl... you boys.... take it to the school yard i say...
na, VMCC use transponders... numbers are all for looks...
but for the record.. the MNZ number allocated for the class has the right, so in theory Frosty should change, however, they could always use their brains and note the difference in appearance... yours is black on a yellow label, Frosty's is white on a Black label so no confusion here!

Now that would be good to watch, 'course you'd have to use the same pillion/passenger to standardise the testing.....poor bastid.

As for not progressing past training wheels it just sounds like common or garden variety performance anxiety.

Just follow standard procedure: turn the lights out, relax a bit and just go with the flow.....empty your mind...touch her...stroke her....isn't she beautiful...easy big fella....it's not a race (yet)....how's that feelin'?.....now slip into I mean onto it....keep warming her up....that's it....is she hot now?...you're doing great....ok, speed it up a bit...now, don't release it too quickly...just eeease it out....aaaaaaah. There you go, you're away! Faster! Don't stop! Don't stop! Uh oh...oh...oh...(SPLAT!)OH! That's OK mate, none of us lasted very long our first time.....

or you could just not bother about it because your not going to be sharing the same transponder... as last year there were def double ups with cross entering...it won't matter if you have the same number...

but I can understand you not wanting to be confussed on the track being similar paced riders and all...wouldn't want your groupiesw cheering on the opposition now eh!!

Background plate colours will be different anyway ?, I suppose first allocated entry for the crossentered clashing class would have first option to keep their number ? (transponders solve it really from a results point of view, but for safety & crash reporting from checkpoint marshals - numbers should be individual)

Like Rossi with 46

Well if someone turned up on race day in the 125 field with number 59 he can change it to #159

I own the number the other rider doesnt have a foot to stand on.

Im not a prick I just want my number so that people know its me but if I was going into retirement and some young hot shot wanted that number id say here mate take it its yours

But at 17 I wont be going into retirement yet

FFS it's club racing. we run transponders, it's the transponder number that counts.

We're always going to get dupes when you allow cross entering of class. it's not a big deal. e.g last year i was racing under #33 which is my MNZ allocated F3 number. Also entered F2 which clashed with craig with his #33 MNZ F2 number.

get over it.

Rider B should just ask for a new number and that being number 1 coz he's knows he's the shit. 20 just doesn't cut it, let the other guy have that.

Rider B knowing he's going to be an international star could also ask for a letters type number like the visitors do and he could be WT for example. That would really be the shit.

Or say his name might be Jimmy, he could ask for J like Robbie Bugden was R, and in my day J was Jeff Sayle.

I went to get a number last year, cos someone had already take the number I had raced with in my first year, and MNZ told me I had to pick a new one and it would have to be over 100 cos there weren't any numbers under 100 available.
I though this was bollocks cos I can never remember being in a race with more than 100 bikes!!! I think they need to delete idle riders numbers out of the system if they are not involved in nationals for, say, 3 years??

that sounds like a good idea because club racers can have what ever number they like anyway unless someone else they race with has it, wheres for nationals everyone needs their national number.
