Strange as it seems ive been approached by a bloke with an SV who wants to swap it for my old TLS.....:gob: over the last couple of years ive spent an obscence amount of money on the old girl.......suspension has been done etc etc......it has a few one off parts that i sourced from an overseas based forum and it looks and goes real nice......at the end of the day though its still an old TL........ive been out in the garage staring at it for a bit trying to make a decision....ive a few bits and pieces that i havent got round to fitting like a GSXR front end that would go with it.......keep thinking if i wanted a SV i would have bought one but never did as i just preferred to mod the TL.....i guess it makes sense to do it........ The SV has an ohlins rear shock and a few other bits but i dunno...they just look so bland.......mind you i suppose i could get modding..........:Punk: whatta you guys reckon..........

Not meaning any disrespect to SV owners, but the TL has a definite impact that the SV lacks. It just has this presence that you can guess the rider is going to pull a wheelie off the lights with a ridiculously loud V-twin beat...

SVs are a far more subtle bike, they don't stand out as much. TLs scream `hooligan' and aggressiveness.

Anything you change and modify and customise to your own needs becomes much more to you than anything made standard by the factory.

Thats the thing i guess...........my old S has been modded front to back and everywere in between...i guess its making the decision as to wether i want to spend all the $ modding an SV..............

Better the Devil you know :innocent:

You'll only go full circle again but from a milder starting point. Think about what made you decline his offer originally & then look at what you've got sitting into front of you now :Punk:

Take it for a ride and unless it is way better, I think that you'll regret.

I also suspect that ina couple of years the TL will be worth more than the SV. TLs hold their price - no guesses for why.

TLs have respect .. sv less so

there is something secretly enticing about a TL .. something deep inside that says "man i wish I could ... "

Don't be stupid. The TL rocks. The SV is boring. You'll regret selling it if you do.

whatta you guys reckon..........

I personally think you will regret it as all the others are saying... you have spent a bucket load on mods the the old girl and not just engine mods ... and it still gives you that smile...

Do you really want an SV? I think you know and have already answered that question.

Colapop

NOPE don't do it. You will regret it for so long. The SV (from what I've been told is not a TL)

go with the tl mate

awesome machine

no point modding an sv for the sake of it

at the end of the day tl's look so nice

resist man resist you will regret it honestly

sv is more of a sports tourer than a sportsbike in my view.

Had a mate with an SV, we used to swap over with my VTR1000 a bit. B4 I killed it. He quite liked the VTR for the same reason I didn't like the SV.
Basically you sat 'on' the SV and 'in' the VTR. Bit of a different riding position I didn't like as much. Wasn't huge on grunt but the brakes were better. Over all I'd prefer the VTR because of the riding position. Haven't riden a TL so can't compare.
Wheelies great. He did 2-3 gears. Proper point of balance wheelies I'm talking, not just power lifts. And his rear tyre was worn way off the edges so depends on the rider.
Go for a ride and see if you like it. But I think they took all the character out of the twins after the wild TL & TLR era.
my opinion only!!

In a way power wheelies are what matters because any bike with a talented rider can do balance point wheelies

Since putting the NC30 shock in the RG that has actually lifted the front end a few times, only by a little of course

And the decision to keep the TL was the right one. I remember a TL zooming past me on the motorway and I thought "damn that's a nice bike"

Sounds like you've made the right choice M - keep that beast and all the passion and energy you've put into it - you'd be selling your soul if you dumped it.
What you need is another bike - one that your Mrs will be happier sitting on the back of.
Your TL is a modern classic - it has timeless style that draws looks wherever it goes.
After all that bloody pocket pissing - are you getting your sorry arse down to the Brass?

yea. havent really been posting much here. Good reading though eh - by the way - Personally I think Suzuki took a step or two back when they stopped the production of the TL - The SV just doesn't do it for me - Test rode one once but bought a VTR instead - I miss that sometimes - pretty much everytime I come into some corner just a little bit too hot for the M109. See you round perhaps Mr 98TLS....
