and who should we bump into in Raglan... a certain Mr Andrew Stroud. He was the white knight stopping to help one of our unfortunate riders.

That would be me :D

We did gravel too. Kawhia. Wo0o0o0 gravel is fun.

Met a lad with a DRZ400 motard. Was funny... we were taking our pissy little sports bikes through kilometres of gravel, while this DRZ400 wouldn't touch it and took the tarmac route.

Yeah, that guy was a bit of a n00b... you shoulda offered to swap bikes with him... I think he needs to learn how to ride properly on something smaller first

Hey! My little ol'hornet is a naked bike thank you very much! :msn-wink: That reminds me, need to wash my little ol'hornet after that gravel run! :weep: Will do it after this post!

I liked the bit when Xerxesdaphat was overtaking a cager and he had to do the running legs bit as the oncoming traffic loomed  around 500km is just a little pootle for me!

"pissy little sprots bikes.." :oi-grr: That will be my next trackday bike! Saw a whole bunch of other bikers on "serious" bikes and my little ol'hornet could only grin back

Did you come across any cows on the road after a blind corner? :sweatdrop I was point for my little group and had that "feeling". Slowed right down and bingo bango ... a whole little herd grazing on both sides and in the middle of the road :gob:

Buzzed them with my little ol'hornet and they all gee-ed up (guess they are used to being mustered by farmers on their quads/bikes)

Hahaha... he was the guy that Zeroindex put the frighteners on (I saw the whole thing -- Zeroindex was overtaking him, and the guy was just about to pull out to overtake the guy in front of him, and didn't look in his mirrors. Gave him a bit of a fright I think lol). When I went past he sped up from about 90-95kph to 120kph, because he still had the shits. However when I did the bicycle pedalling he saw it in the mirror and laughed and backed off .

The only times I don't like having a 250cc single is a) going up long hills and b) overtaking.

It's cagers that do that, that just piss me off... they take so damn long to overtake, and they think they're just as quick as the bike that's just past the last two cars behind them... happens so often, I just ignore it, and hug the white line on the other side of the road... talking about bicycle pedalling (which i do often when i see bicycle riders), those damn cyclists pissed me off... 3-wide, taking up the entire lane... flew past them with the horn going, and then gave them the middle-finger salute... I mean seriously, I don't mind them being on the road, but when you have to jump over a double yellow line, just to get round some f**king pedal-power shit-machines, that's just not on...

And there was this one time, at Raglan ...

(rest edited out due to it being a thread hijack of Raglan even though it's to do with Raglan and it has biking moments and general rant moments, but the grand poohbah, head cheese, numero uno, high muckity muck muck, your highness, his nibs, head donger, cheque meister, he who must be obeyed, big head, top plonker, VIP CEO, and general ubermeister has declared we are in contravariance of the thread direction)

So solly, meesa solly! Aiyaah!

 Shh! Dover might have learnt to read and will come back to cane your arse ... if he could catch you :dodge:

We stopped at Waigairo (sp?) pub to warm our hands back up - the lady there came out in her dressing gown and yelled back inside "don't worry, keep eating your breakfast, just some bikes!"

She said they didn't open till 11am (we got there at 10am) and if she came out 5 minutes earlier, she would have seen Xerxes and me having a piss on the local foliage in the carpark! :o :sweatdrop Not a good sight. Shrinkage and all

Insane1 turned back at Ngarawhachallcallit due to a sore shoulder... and we didn't find out until we got to Raglan and back into cellphone coverage :gob: I was about to ride back up when I got the message.

Conversation went like this ...

"Tom, where's Insane1? He was right behind you!?"
"Yeah, he was. Lost sight of him when a cager passed him!"
:gob:
"He knew we were riding to Raglan... "
"...."
"Bugger."
"Oh wait, getting a message on my celly now..."

Bad flashback memory of Donor on same road to Raglan and me having to backtrack to find him... :pinch:

Zeroindex contacted, I time him... and he gets in 15 minutes faster than I expected! Leaving the Four Square with two V's and see him rogering Xerxesdaphat in an ungentlemanly way! (He parked his FZR400 next to our "prissy little sprots bikes")

And oh yeah, there was this one time at Raglan ....

Going home yesterday about two (I live on the Raglan Road), I'm following an F650 who's two up.

If this is you, get some riding lessons before you become a statistic (and certainly stopping risking your pillion's life). This guy couldn't corner his bike at anywhere near the speed of the other traffic, and caused me to brake heavily at one point as I caught him up in a corner (I was driving a Commodore and not going particularly quickly).

When might that have been Honduh boi. (Tho to be fair I was behind you most of the way...catchin all the stones you were throwing at me:shit:

Was a pretty sweet ride. good company, reasonable weather most of the ride.

Edit - only hair raising moment was coming aroun a right hander at about 100kph in 6th gear with sweet FA throttle, and having the whole rear end light up and start sliding...woke me up a tad.

TUI! then you disappeared and we're trying to catch the limper to tell him to slow down.. a bit of a debacle really.. no wonder you nearly highsided trying to catch us up in those conditions...!!!

to be fair i think we were all holding each other up at one point or another
