Me & my mates are making a south island road trip out of it, leaving auckjam on 17 nov and returning 2 dec.

I saw on the Burt Munro Challenge website that Toll are doing a special deal for interislander tickets - $73 each way, bike & rider! :gob:

I was going to be a definite, the only decision left was whether or not to take down extra sets of tyres for the beach & street racing!

...but with the new job I've got a bit of a lack of holidays. If I can earn a few days in lieu I might be a starter, It'd be great to do all the adv routes on the way down.

Cheers
Clint

I can tell ya after last year, all we were doing was taging along. You start meeting up with bikes all going to the same place. By the time we got to the ferry last year there were about 40odd bikes. ( take yr tie downs ) Half way down the south island, its a convoy. Bloody exciting i can tell you.

yeh.... i got into invers a day ahead of most. there was about 10-15 bikes on the ferry with me. we rolled off together, and then split up outside of picton. followed two goldwings last year, but they left me in the dust pretty quick, lol.
by the time the main bunches were arriving, i was pootling around town in my casual gear, while they were arriving in piss pouring rain, with wet weather gear covering their kit. most were bitching about having to camp in foul weather due to all accomodation being booked. lol.

zukin... i took 11 days last year, and want a bit longer this year. i need a holiday! LOL.

Does it clash with the Magpie Madness at Winchester and the Jokers motorbike show at Ashburton?
It did last year and it didn't half tick me off - can't be two places as once.

Thanks for that - I should have looked it up myself.

Can't believe they let it clash with a long-standing existing set of events, I was told the BM was going to be early NEXT year to get a better chance at fine weather.

I was talking to a guy who was involved with the Magpie rally a while ago and he was telling me how brassed off they were about the clashing between them and the Ashburton bike show even though they had earlier informed them of dates. I got the view that he was saying that they (Ashburton show) were into BEARS bikes only did not give a toss about any other bike people or their rallys.

It's not a total loss for the Magpie as a lot of us from the deep south go to the rally on Friday night then on the Saturday ride up to Ashburton to the show for a day ride then back to the Magpie for Saturday night so it's not like they're missing out.

Possibly a few Canterbury riders only go to the show but then that's their loss.

But the BM being on the same weekend as the Magpie? the MM will miss out on all the southern riders plus any from further north that would have pssibly done the MM.

Well it's where the first job application went so not out of the question at all.

I need some more companies to advertise for Business Manager, Commercial Manager or Business Analyst and then I can send more applications out.

I like Invercargill though - been there a few times.

Hi all.

Well I can give you the inside running on the Burt Munro, Wyndham Street race as I am one of the two bobbies that works in Wyndham.

We are expecting between 6000 and 9000 people to attend the event this year. The Inter Islander is book solid with bike the two days prior to the weekend of the event.

If you do go keep an eye out for me, and say hi. (I'll be one of the guys in the blue suit)

lmfao. gonna do that this week... tryin to work out plans first... trying to make it back in time to hit the taupo memorial track day... got ferry times worked out, though the ideal ones are of course booked solid, lol. the return trip itll be 7pmish before i get home!

edit: got plans mostly sorted, with roughly one days travel allowance in case its needed.

sunday 18: wangas to welly/picton [pm sailing]
monday: picton to chch
tuesday/wednesday spend in chch
thursday: chch to dunedin
friday: dunedin to invers

monday 26: invers to chch?
tuesday/wednesday spend in chch
thursday: picton
friday: picton to home [7pm estimated walk in the front door time]
saturday/sunday: home to taupo track day
monday: taupo to home for work at 3pm.

A group of about 8 of us are going down, 7pmish doesent sound to bad considering our crossing on the way down sails at about 1am:shit:, a few of them went down last year and recon that they have all sorted so we can roll off the boat and have the better par of a days riding ahead of us,but with that sort of sailing time it does get hard to trust them, return trip is about a 9.40am sailing so that is much more respectable.

Would still pay to check, we have only heard via the grapevine its booked solid.

yeh, pumbaa, i looked at an early morning crossing, but i aint much for getting up at that time, let alone riding anywhere!

last year, i had a 9am-ish sailing from welly [stayed there the night before] and managed to get from picton to chch in one day. coming back, i found the nicest place in picton, hence the difference in plans... id like the luxury of that place again, lmfao. good value for money.

megarich... yeh, i checked, and the days id be using it, theres only one sailing per day thats currently booked. i will be giving them a buzz this week sometime.

Bloody dag eh - youz guys coming all this way for a rally and me and CB and other down here heading to Magpie Madness at Winchester.

When the Burt Munro crew get their shit together and have a rally on a weekend that doesn't clash with another rally AND is at a better time of year I'll got there.

I recokin... they could of had 10-11 or even 17-18 (though I have a club run on this weekend)

Tom I think Paula is going to the MM as well (though don't quote me on this) and happy to ride up with you (of course that depends on the day you are going up)

Is CB going to be riding the sporty...???? or just as pillion?

Not sure yet - CB could even be on the Superglide solo...not a worry to me if I use the Sporty.

Leaving Riviera of the South 4pm-ish on the Friday.

But it's all secret at the moment - apparently.
