Very untrue.....
In todays context, the average Harley owner is between the age of 35 and 50, so more than likely they are old enough and ugly enough NOT to put up with any shit......which others depict them as being up themselves.
You'll also find that most of these have been riding for 10+ years and don't tolerate as much as the younger riders do.
Then there are those who just have to much money and only buy a Harley to be "cool"........these guys dont last long so arn't really an issue.
Who gives a ---- what others think or say, so long as your happy.

The three Harley riders i know aint up them selves, and its all been covered and done to death before on here, what i will say tho' is, a local pub around here is the Puhoi, its a biker pub, any amount/types of bikes turn up every weekend, but when the Harley riders leave, they make a big thing of it, the start up/ the leaving at speed (as only a Harley could) and then you hear them button off when they hit 3rd, as long as you dont become 'better than any other biker' then....fill ya boots

Apparently anyone that rides American, British or Italian bikes are arseholes.

Hi, I'm an arsehole.

I couldn't get out of 2nd gear leaving the Puhoi pub. It's a town FFS with a 50kph limit - I might hoon a bit in the countryside but I keep it legal in towns.

Was that because of the oil on ya rear tyre?.....:dodge:

well we all know what you lot say about Honda riders... tho the other have will disagreee...

Each to there own. Its the rider that makes the bike and the bike that makes the rider. But its how you treat and respect others that makes the mind up of on lookers.

I really like the Street Bob. Most likely my next bike will be one of those.

There are specialists that can cure that condition you know.

now IF I was ever to get a TRUE harley (as Harley diehards dont seem to think Buells are Harleys... believe me there is just as much conflict within Harley circles about ture Harleys as the Jap vs Harley debate), it would be one of these
Lovely!

Are you buying the Street Bob new or used? If it's the latter you'll save a few bob (sic) and be able to throw some suspension at it, maybe even better brakes.

No, not all HD riders are up themselves (my willy certainly isn't long enough for me to be) and there's another post here pointing to the squeakies (new leather, new bike, trophy wife etc) not lasting long. It's true. These guys never were bikers and never will be, rub shoulders with people who have a few stains and bugs on their bikes and you'll soon suss the difference. The Trophy would have been a good ride though, surely; what made you decide to switch?

Hi arsehole, meet me, I'm a cunt, as well.

Well thats what the missus calls me.

Yep, I've heard heaps about Duc owners being up themselves too.
Gee, its all downhill eh?

I'm still not sure what Triumph owners are looked upon as.

Anyway, how's your Duc going Jamie, sounds like you're in love!

There are bloody expensive, high maintenance, and don't hold their value, especially the high mileage ones. Not recommended.

Interesting assumption.. How long did you own your one for??
Having owned and run one myself for five years my only negative comment would be the fuel consumption (average 12km/ltr) Service and maintenance costs were good and trade-in price was very good. A great handling and powerful touring bike.

There is, perhaps, a double meaning in there but I chuckled anyway.

I used to be a Triumph owner and I know some blokes in Wellington who own both HD's and Triumphs. Their little social group is called HOOTS, Harley Owners On Triumphs. They've got some nice older beasts too, T150's, T160's, minters. See attached for an example.

The thing about Harley's is that the company brings out a model and sets a trend. I'm sort of from the school that you buy the base model, ie sporty, dynaglide or softail and add on the bit's you want. And if someone wants to spend a fortune on a CVO model that's their choice. Everyone one wants to knock the Harley owner, sort of trying to make out that they are a better rough original biker than they are, honestly who really cares. Just watched "Wild Hogs" great laugh. Sort of Hog club but its what it's all about isn't it. Getting a thrill. Betta than everyone being sensible all the time.

Might be good for you miss babe - but this quest they seem to be on to lower saddle heights is getting silly. I can barely see over my knees on one.

Have they not noticed the populous gets larger every generation - as the saddles get lower and lower.

Tank goodness for se Uly.

Good point Big D. I guess thats why I like the softail range cos I can touch the ground on all of them.

Interesting about the lower seat height tho...I think Harley are trying to emulate the low lean dragster look...

My mate (who has a way-cool 96 W/G as well, see attached) would appreciate the comment but he's a bit humble and won't show the T160, as yet; he's also just about finished a T150 to the same level. His lady has a mean Shovel with Pan heads, there are others in the private collection but I respect his privacy. Just a shame that such machinery isn't out there for all to enjoy.

It is, however, out there.
