Hi there,
I recently (bout 3 weeks ago) bought a new naked gt250.
The clock just rolled round to 1000km on the way home from work tonight.just curious to hear you guy'ziz opinions on the importance of a new bikes first service and all that.
Cheers,
Hadley

Hugely important. Your oil filter is full of tiny particles of metal from everything in your engine meshing together during the run in process.

Get it serviced immediately and when the next one is due at 4000km. I have a GT250 and have done 30000km on it in 10 months, I have had it serviced regularly on the advised times of every 4000km (ie after the first two) and never had any problems with it

And as Jim2 says the filter etc will be full of metal

After the 1000km service it will feel like a completely new bike.

Be a good boy and do as uncle Jim tells you. The first service on a new bike is vital. Book the bike in and get it done.

You might void your warranty too.

And you'll want your warranty.

The first service on a bike is probably the more important one, as the engine loosens up after being run in etc. They should go round an d checkthe bike for other things that need tightening and check (tho you do that as well don't you) :innocent:

Not many - had the cdi unit and the rear shock replaced under warranty. Had the chain replaced at 16000km and just had one of the fork seals replaced at 28000km and replaced the rear Shinko at 26000km.

Keep it serviced at the correct times and it'll keep on keeping on

Should hit 34000km by the time the 12 months is up.

45000 in 6 months??? do you ever get off it

I have been asked that question by several people when I say I've done the 30 in 10 months
