Came off today.. jeans and teeshirt...:brick:
forgot the bloody disc lock! got about 6cm and then front wheel locked and down she went :weird:
First time I've used the disc lock in ages, which is most likely why I forgot it.
Broke the orange plastic on the front of my indicator, but thats it. I think I bit of superglue will be all it needs.
But god damn, I'm an idiot.

Coz you weren't wearing something that may give you a little more protection or coz you broke your bike?
Better to have a dick than to be one...

oh dear!
maybe a bright cord from the disk lock to the throttle or key fathom would be the go to make sure it doesn't happen again

Cuz i dropped my bike.
I was only moving the thing from one side of the carpark to the other! what a pointless exercise!

Yeah, thats the go. I've seen them, my lock didn't have one but I will be making my own.

:o Ah well, least it's a little mistake! Only costs your pride and dignity (I lost mine a long time ago so I can act the way I do!)
Every time I put a disc lock or cable on my bike, I always thread my reminder religiously to my brake lever. The one day I don't will be the day I do what you did so well! :sweatdrop
I know it takes a little bit of time, but it's always well spent. I get paranoid when I ride into the city. Always lock it up and thus... the cable reminder so I won't do what you did when I know I could do it too!
Least you didn't try to pop a wheelie and ride away into the sunset! And ... no gear!!? What the? :gob:

What you didn't see was McJim pushing you into the hedge and then offering his hand to you (if he was crueler, he'd take your hand, let go, just to watch you fall back down again! :devil2:)

Yep buy yourself one of those bright yellow curly cords that go from the disc lock up to the lever...... then you will always remember that you have that darned disc lock on. They are about $9 from most bike shops.

Hey shit happens and at least it was a lesson learned at low speed.
I'm sure you'll be wearing GEAR and making a wee physical reminder to yourself on the bike that the locks on!
PS Don't listen to GIJOE, my McJim wouldn't push a fella over or make them fall off. That's like pulling wings off bugs kinda material which my hubby is most certainly not.

I've done this as well. Was wearing gear though. There were 20,0000 people watching. How embarassing. Lost a fair bit of petrol. Luckily, that was all I lost.
Rest assured you are not the only one to have taken the "shit the disck lock tumble" Funny to watch though!......... sorry

Yep, she's right. McJim is honest as the rain pours in Scotland. He's a bonnie prince of a man and his scottish accent just breaks me up in stitches inside (what is it with Scotsman in my life? I get rid of one just to have another step up and take his place!)
I can't help but snigger when McJim wears his red gear and I'm reminded of Star Trek with Scotty!
And... how come no gear!!?

wonder if it's ever happened to someone trying to flog a bike, now that would be funny!
ive also done it but not dropped bike - my little trick(did this afterwards) is to put it as close to the caliper as possible so that when you take off you only have about 1cm max of movement before you are stopped, thought about the cord but reckon my fix works just as well. Funniest i did was try and take off from my carport (slightly uphill) with the bike still securely chained to the frame of carport, took me a few secs to realise why i couldnt go anywhere. Thought " dam this is a tough bloody hillstart"

Hey dude.
Shame about that - you're not hurt so no harm done eh?
If your orange lens don't glue back on I suggest you go back to where you got your brake lever ;) y'know where.
It won't be the same (if you want to save $$$) but so long as you get a pair it'll be fine - AVOID the ones that say "Decorative Only" as they're not legal.

No big deal. No harm done. I did it once. Cheap lock and it fell to bits.

The weather is piss poor - I reckon coz I rode a Ducati through the rain (see - it's not true - they don;t dissolve!) and then rode an RG150 over the shore in the rain and back again (needed a new tyre and battery for the missus) I've done enough riding to allow me to post again.

:gob: McJim has exceeded my milage for the day! :weep: Oh the shame of it all! I guess I should have ridden to 'treads as well just as an excuse to keep him company :pinch:

And to top it all off, Xerxes gave me sympathy due to the fact he also rode more than me today as well! :crybaby:
I need to go for another long pootle. To please the biker gods. Oh yes. I must. Hmmm where did I put that disc lock? :pinch: I was actually thinking of getting one of those new ones with the cable that wraps around the whole bike, got loud blingy bits if'n it gets touched and all. Would definitely remind me if I forgot to take it off! Hmmm....
I could put glow-wire with it as well... bad boy! :innocent:

Never got a disc lock cos I knew I would do just that. Instead bought a brake lever lock. Seems to work just fine and you can't miss it so hopefully will deter thieves the same way as those highly visible steering wheel locks for cages.

What purpose does a disk lock server really that the steering lock doesn't? Don't most bikes that are stolen just get picked up and chucked on the back of a ute or in a van?
I just try to park next to an Aprilia (sp)...

I do this too... still makes a hell of a bang as it hits the caliper though! (Not that I've ever tried to ride off with the disc lock on :innocent: )
