Thought it would be interesting to find out how you guys first became aware of this site and got you sucked into this site?
Me.... crashe ...The three of us me, meon3 and our son were parked outside a closed motorcycle shop in Auckland on a public holiday wondering if any bike shops were open. crashe turned up and started chatting. She told us that Motomail would be open so follow her.
She told of this site where bikers got together and shared knowledge and the like. Thought oh my god nirvana. How wrong could I have been? :)
That was about three years ago I think, good on ya crashe, what a legend.

A young guy on here called Nolan who had a cbr250rr , I worked with his dad and he told about this site that was awesome , so I took a gander and was in awe of all the info you could get .and the rides that I could go on , have`nt looked back since.Don`t think Nolan has his cbr anymore though he binned 4 times in a month , I think the whole forward momentum thingy had him buggered.

It was Google for me three years ago while searching for things on motorcycling. Found this great site with a few awesome people that were met at the different rides and rallies around the country. Now it would neigh on impossible to meet everyone who frequents here, yet there are still motorcyclists out there who have not heard of Kiwibiker yet.

Pleasant people who "pay it forward" with no regard for repayment, genuine people who drop everything to help if needed.
They've all left now and in one case died.
Thankfully there are "new" people who've become friends, some of whom I have never met. Creepy ol' Internet.

C4 and Antallica, both of whom don't come here very much any more. I'm almost getting to that point myself nowdays.
I stumbled onto the site via Google, and after I joined I got a PM from Uncle B inviting me a long to a ride. If it wasn't for this site I would never have been on a group ride, and met some really cool people.

Cajun - I used to bitch and moan about the amount of time he spent on KB so joined up to see what all the fuss was about.
This was in 2004 and (at the time) I thought that most members were young dickheads who couldn't handle the power of their bikes. I had this impression because whenever hubby came home from a KB ride I'd ask, "So who crashed today?" and he could give me a name :gob: It would've been better to hear "no one".
It didn't help when we rocked up to the KB rally at Tokaanu (sp) and I heard a youngin' asking everyone "so how fast did you go on the way here". It was torrential rain FFS
Anyway, I finally started posting after hubby persuaded me to have a few drinkies with the Tauranga crew. As it turns out, they're not as young or irresponsible as I'd originally thought

I was learning about the fine art of motorcyling and doing the usual google thing. I lurked for about two months, but didn't feel like I could join unless I had my own two wheels!
Did my BHS, got my little ol'hornet and badda-bing badda-bang (ok, it's more of an inline noise :innocent:) I logged on and realised that here was another outlet for my "ecccentric" (see Big Dog's post about "eccentricity") mode of behaviour.
Lots of things I learnt here that I wouldn't have gotten anywhere else and except through experience. I would rather value the wisdom of others since experience can be a costly school!

It was 12 September 2003, and I'd just purchased a 1987 FZR750R from a Lower Hutt Motorcycle store that isn't around anymore. Richard (who now works at TSS), had sold it to me.
Anyway, I was trolling the internet looking for some info on the bike (as you do) and I came across this dude in Auckland who had one identical to mine.
Anyway his email address was on the site, so I emailed him to talk about it, and he suggested I try kiwibiker. An hour later I was a member, and I've been here ever since.
Unlike the feller who suggested I join (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/member.php?u=393). Don't know what happened to him.
I'm the 220th person to join KB.

Spank, when he was first starting the site. He found me on a USA Forum, saw I was from NZ and invited me to join. Perhaps it will be time to do something else when I retire in 9 months. New horizons and all that. It's been huge fun though.

I was swapping reports & pix of the 06 RNGC with Holy Roller & he referred me to this sight.
I lurked on the fringe for awhile before deciding to register and join a TCWNR, thinking that I'd be riding with a bunch of young hoons.....Most of them were old bastards and I had a good time.
Looking forward to meeting more of you at next week's gathering.

Several Goooogle searches pointed me here.
Rusty Nuts web site had a report on the Southern Cross and I recognised the name of the writer.
Google search on "Southern Cross" came back with Kiwibiker and the same report.
Lurked around watching for a bit then wanted to see some of the photos attached to the tour threads I was reading. Had to sign up to do that.
Guess it was Jantar's fault really.

IIRC, it was dangerous, back when we both owned a VTR1000. We 'met' on a Firestorm forum, and he pointed me here.
My first post was a query about braided brake lines - I'd just fitted some, and then found out they were illegal. D'Oh!
I wasn't vifferman back then - I was firestormer. I think someone else has that name now.

Google found it for me as well. I'd only just begun getting interested in motorbikes, and at that stage I wasn't sure if I'd even get one. KB changed all that, I was stung into action. Sat my BHS and my learners, bought a bike, and I was away. Hung around for a few months, got a bit disillusioned and disheartened with the whole thing, and didn't bother coming on for several months. Then after a while away, without really thinking about it, I hopped on again to take a look... and have been lurking since. Have learnt a heap of stuff since joining and met a few people - but not that many since not that many Christchurch members bother posting. I've given up trying to find someone to ride with down here and just ride on my own most of the time, or go on the sportzone ride, where the guys don't muck around. I like the pace of their rides.

Was googling for information on Bikes and how to purchase them. I signed up, couldnt think of a name, didnt really think I would get hooked on kb or post all that much, so picked 'Lissa' - borning... meaning Melissa of course... When I first started in Sept (?) I didnt even have a bike... now 9 months later I am on my second one.
Glad I did join, meet some fantasic people from my area, and welly and from all around the country, some I have meet others I havent yet.
Yeah Lissa, I agree it can be a life changing thing.
Without KB I would never have met my partner or my good mates that I have made... I think I owe Zed a lot just on the value of the people his refferal gave me.
limbimtimwim - was a work colleague at the time. He more or less got me interested in bikes too; I'd looked half-heartedly before, but nothing serious.
When I was asking about what bike to get, he was looking here, so I joined up for the trading forum.
