If anyone buys the Suzuki drop me a line. I used to have one the same model and there are a few simple tricks to get a fair bit more go out of them.
Mine used to be about 10% faster down the front straight at Manfield compared to a standard one.

WW...I've already brought a '97 CBR600F3. Get my full on Monday (hopefully) so my wife isn't too keen for me to take it out yet. Not long to go now.
I brought it off trade-me...it's got a couple of minor gravel rashes but runs sweet.
Sorry Jay widda, need the cash up front to pay back the loan on the new one.
DarkNinja, CBR is my wife's bike, runs sweet as and been reliable as...the gixxer is faster though and IMHO handles better.
CBR600RR is a wicked looking bike...good luck with that.
Eddieb, I think you're only the second person I've heard of that had one of this particular model, the '89 RR that is. Of all the 250s I've ridden, I like it the best. Love being able to thrash it over the takas, went on a KBer ride couple of weeks ago and had my wife on the back...managed to keep up over the hill with no problems...straight line speed was another story (well compared to the other bikes..R1, GSX600, TXR, etc).
What did you actualy do to your? I've had the carb needles replaced, new genuine plug caps, blah blah blah.

There were 7 or 8 of those in Hamilton, imported by a local dealer.
Main changes I did were:
Lower the front sprocket 1 tooth
Take the inlet rubbers between the carbs and motor off, turn them inside out and shave about 1mm off the ridge in the centre. This effectively 'ports' the inlets as the ridge obstructs airflow between the carb and motor inlet. Don't shave it right off as it's required to hold the carb in the right place, just shave enough so it's flush with the internal bore of the carb
The standard mufflers rot fron the inside. Get a sheet of stainless rolled up to the same internal diameter and length, create a chamber from the lower end of the muffler to the centre of where the mounting strap on the outside is (About 1/3 of the pipe length from memory), then from there run a perforated pipe straight out the end, no greater than 1 1/2" internal diameter. Pack with new exhaust packing. Drill out the rivets from the old pipe and rivet the new one in the place, using the original end cap as well. We tried 5 or 6 different designs before we came up with that. From memory it cost me less than $200 to get done.
Alter fuelling to suit, although mine ran great without alteration.
As with any bike that works hard run good oil, I used Motul.
I did about 50,000km on mine without anything mechanical needing doing to it, although the coils started to break down. The guy I sold it to wrote it off about 2 months later.
I took it down to the Brass Monkey from Hamilton with a couple of Ducati 900ss. They could out accelerate me, but on a good straight I could tuck in behind and stay with them and they couldn't pull away. The speedo needle used to go about 10mm past the 180 mark.
