View Full Version : What an idiot

Didn't know where to post this, and seeing as it is not bike related thought here was the most relevant place.
Today on our trip to Wanganui for hockey, had a guy come flying past in a Subaru WRX, doing at least 150km/h (we were doing 120 and he passed us like we were going backwards). Passes us on the inside then comes up behind a truck as we come to a blind corner.
On our side of the road it is single laned, on the other side, separated by double yellow lines there are 2 lanes. The fuckwit, without looking, crosses the double yelluhs, car comes round the corner in the passing lane, he's on the wrong side of the road, head on collision.
Luckily the innocent car managed to swerve a little, reducing the impact. The guy in the WRX spins out, narrowly missing the truck and us. We stopped, the guy in the WRX completely rooted front end and side, smashed windscreen, windows etc blood coming down his face. Friends dad who was taking us told him what a fucking idiot he was before we went and signalled traffic to slow down coming into the blind corner.
Really dangerous guy, complete fucking idiot. Glad the person in the other car was relatively OK but a few places behind was a guy on a GSXR750, now imagine what would have happened if it was this guy who was coming around the corner as the fuckwit changed lanes.
Apart from giving us a good shock, and a pretty fucking awsome show, really opened my eyes to how reckless car drivers can be.

How many times have you seen the roles reversed?
Personally I have seen a lot of motocyclists cross the double yellows to pass. Granted sometimes you can see, lot of times you can't though. Regardless Double yellows are double yellows. THOU SHALT NOT CROSS.

Yup, I do a heap of k's every year and morons are everywhere, they don't even need wheels. Even some pedestrians think they own the road, some so-called professional drivers are atrocious; cabbies, truckers etc. Every group has its morons, including the motorcycling fraternity.

It's just unfortunate that someone else was involved, at least by the sounds they where ok.

Getting a close up view of an accident like this (without the cost or pain of being involved) adds to your road experience / knowledge - you will probably remember that for a long time.

Slightly above average wick and sharpish handling sure can give idiots a false sense of security (or superiority). Hope your friends dad has a loud and clear talk to the cops.

How do you work that out then? What an effing stupid thing to say - a bit like the comment about Subaru drivers further down. Inaccurate and does nothing to get to the heart of the issue. It's like saying that Gixxer riders have a predisposition to crashing (errr...:innocent: )
Most of us drive cars too, but that doesn't brand us as poor drivers. Sorry to say that many WRX drivers are young with little willies and don't have the skills/ judgement to match the performance of the car. I've seen plenty of young bikers displaying the same traits!
Rant over:yes:
Declaration of bias: I drive a 2 litre Impreza as my hack, but it ain't turboed!

Much the same as Motorcyclists then
If a car driver crashes then he get ridiculed, if a motorcyclist crashes he gets sympathy, anyone else see a double standard being applied ?

I was involved in a head on accident a few weeks ago. You want to guess who was at fault? You have a choice between the younger guy driving a twin turbo Subaru or the older guy in the Toyota.
Just as well the cops aren't quite so eager to lay blame as you lot or I'd have been hung drawn and quartered on the spot just because of my age and type of car.
Admittedly though, I seem to be a target for people crossing the centre line lately. On Friday I was riding down to Tauranga just after dark and some guy coming the other way decided to over take as I was heading towards them. I had to go on to the shoulder (fortunately there was a thin strip that was sealed) to go around him - we missed colliding by only a foot or two. Less than five minutes later I had a close call with a van who tried the same trick, however this time he managed to pull back onto his own side of the road before he reached me - just.
Still, this is just part of driving on our open roads. As someone who does a LOT of open road riding/driving, I can safely say that there are idiots out there in all types of vehicles, they are not just limited to certain makes of car, or age for that matter.

Of course there are always going to be exceptions to any given rule. I was just saying that the worst categorised group of drivers, are "typically" "young males".. & as far as insurance goes, that goes up to about age 25.. YOU however are 29 (according to your profile).. so that puts you into the "old farts" category with the rest of us!
The age of this idiot in the WRX is not stated, but whatever age he is.. I hope the cops throw the f*ckin BOOK at him big time!!!!!!!! We don't need f*ckwits like that on our roads!!

Well my friends dad went into the local cop shop today and filed a report i believe, hopefully something happens to the fuckwit because otherwise the chances of him doing this again are so high.
As we stopped to signal people down someone about 5 minutes later stopped and said "that wanker passed me at such a speed, just knew this was going to happen"
Wish we had been around for when the cops actually arrived but we had to get off to hockey. Is certainly not something i'm going to forget for a long time.

you guys do what i do,if some dickhead is driving erattic i phone *555,only used it twice,i hate the idea of dobbing in average people but for dangerous/excessive speed no probs here.first time the cops got me to sit behind the guy, then when they signalled me and him to pull over,he was so pissed he fell out of the car,i'd thought that was it,but he then went to give me a wack in the head from behind, dodged it then knocked him out, cops said well done, for stopping him from killing someone and he didn't even remember trying to hit me let alone remember me getting him, cops charged him with attempted assault,i said drop it no probs, turned out it was his 4th in 18 months for dangerous, careless and drunk driving.was disqualified indefinately at time.

Yeah won both games,
U16 i played in and we won 10-3
U14, they stopped the scoring 15 minutes into the game because it was 10-0 lol
The other vehicles occupant, got out of the car and was walking, checking the damage to his car. He didn't seem to bad but this was from about 50m away. Hopefully he went and knocked the fuckers lights out, Greg, the dad who we were travelling with got very close to getting out of the car and smacking him one, said he wished he actually had on the way home.
We had a look at the site on the way back, about 3 hours later, still glass and bits of debris on the road, nice skid mark and a 180 turn in the middle of the road.
