View Full Version : Super Duke vs ZX10R

28th May 2007, 15:17
Well yesterday I finally got to through the Super Duke through some nice tasty twisties.
First impressions? OMFG!!!!!! :gob: Sure I had already done 1400+kms on the Duke since buying it a week or so ago but they consisted of "commuting/touring kms.
I've found to my surprise that I can ride this Super Duke faster, smoother, with more comfit, leave sportsbikes behind and have far more fun than what I've been able to do on either of my ZX10's. Shocked does not quite cover it TBH.
All this has lead me to query why I own a sportsbike
Finally I've found a motorcycle that doesn't require an earth shattering speed to get the fix I'm after!

Oh don't get me wrong man...my ZX10 goes faster than a straight streaker through the Blue Oyster Bar and corners wickedly....BUT not as well as he Superduke...plus it's good for 250kmph.
It's not as if I ride the ZX slow either

You speaka my language there Chris. Got a bit Ho Hum doing 300Kays all over the place on my ol Busa, cos thats about all it did above my current ride. I went the big trailie way (knobbly tyres and all) and there are bitumen roads (mmmm the twisty ones) that I can now, surprisingly, travel way quicker over than I ever could on the old girl. Get the added bonus as well of a few roosties in the gravel and a far more comfortable ride with great visibility. Oh and with lower gearing than the donor (TL1000), it'll still whip up to 230 Kays (so they tell me) pretty damn quick too.
Low down grunt, good handling and nice wide bars. Easy to ride quick and a shit load of fun to boot. Such a dilemma, ain't it Chris.
Give us a bell if you're going out on the weekend and it's dry. Wouldn't mind finally getting to do the Coro run on the Blade.

Exactly mate, exactly! Sure I can see if one has never had he luxury of doing such speeds so easily why one would been keen to have it on tap but it does get mundane after a while.

Nah not really but then again I was single for a while so have a good grip on me
If I wanted to go fast over a long period of time I'll take either the RSVR or ZX10 out for the day but to be honest I'm a bit bored with the constant high speed buzz...been there, done that. Also I prefer tight twisties and for the life of me I was unable to do 180kmph around a 55km corner

Fair enough. We don't have too much to choose from around here in the way of twisties. If I lived close to Coro or North Auck then I'm not sure I'd be that worried either.
Tell me, would you push the front end of the Duke as hard as you'd push the 10R/RSVR?

Hmmmmm....given that I'm riding it faster/harder through the twisties I'd say yes I am pushing the Duke's front harder. I had to replace the front tyre this morning after last sunday's wee jaunt.
When living up North I used to push my ZX10 HARD through the sweepers etc but still I feel more planted on the S'Duke

Great role models are the NZ police force
So now theres gay sex allegations coming out? I take it they were from oh 1885? Im sure we can dig them up and have a fair trial.:shit:
I'm sure it would be a very fair trial. Gay sex and Honda-owning might be legal now, but it certainly wasn't in 1885 so it's only fair that the cops concerned are jailed for life, after having been castrated so they can't enjoy their time inside.
Anyway ... what gay sex allegations are therse? I hadn't heard of any - I was just shit stirring :dodge:

Erm. Yeah. Thanks for that.
Just out of interest, why does being homosexual immediately mean you can no longer be a role model? I can understand the rest of it ... but it's hardly like the entire Police force is made up of rapists or goat/chicken/pig/horse (you forgot rabbits) molesters.
