Just wanting to know what the reliability of these bikes is like, any good or bad points etc. I've been offered one with nearly 50,000km on it for what seems like a good price, altho it'll probably need a top end rebuild to be on the safe side, so how much are pistons and rings for these? any info would be appreciated
Oh also is there anyone in Invercargill that would be keen to test ride it for me?

BUY IT!!!
I wish i still had mine. If you rebuild it, the money will come back to you as the bike matures.
YOU WILL NOT LOOSE MONEY ON AN RZ!

That's if you want to sell it, which by `I wish I still had mine' you probably won't lol.

Umm, I'd like to see that V-Twin RZ. That sounds like significant engine damage to me.

This plonker says the same thing in his auction and the picture demonstrates what a parallel twin RZ250 engine looks like very nicely.

are they electric start or kick only?

Kick start but it isn't like a four stroke. You don't even need to get out of the seat to turn them over.

kick start, or push :) , as Jim2 says they are super easy to start

any fun mods that can be done, or things I should do, i'm thinking about pistons and rings first up so i know where i stand with that issue, or is there some sort of sign as to when it needs to be done?

don't mod it, if anything restore it to standard
fit good tyres
refresh suspension
sprockets and chain
etc etc
rings will depend on how you look after it, what sort of oil you use, should give you great mileage if you take care of it
