just had my first scary newbie moment
clutch cable went spongy mid ride
the first signs i got was that when i pull the clutch trying to change from first into second, lever wouldnt go.
then i started not being able to start cleanly, then not being able to start at all
managed to haul myself off to a side road and stop on the side. checked everything (i knew it was clutch related). checked where the clutch cable attaches to the gearbox, all good still moving. initially i though the cable had snapped
and then it dawned on my to check where it attaches to the lever. and look the two screw that the cable pulls on was loose. road side fix, set the cable right and then tighten them as hard as my hand will take them.
it was instantly better, managed to limp off, then i started raining so i went home
the friend who rode my bike to the parking lot last week commented on how touchy the clutch was and recommended i adjust it. i guess i just did now. and from now on will check clutch cable attachment points before every ride.
