Just want to say cheers to all the biker who stopped on the nor western motorway about a month ago to see if i was allright. Your a credit to the sport.

Bit of background. Was taking the lass for a hoon through riverhead, albany then to the viaduct for some lunch. Had a feed and with a happy bellies we were off. On the nor western then my back wheel blew out on my blue 1992 ZXR750 (just been sold) at about 110Kph. She started a wee fish tail but wasn't to bad. I was instantly off the gas and making my way from the fast lane off the motorway across 4 lasne as the mt eden onramp was still runnin.

My wife an i got off the motorway safe and sound. I called up a mate to come pick us up an take me to mt eden motorcycles. I called mt Eden motorcycles up out of worksop hrs told them the deal and one of the guys said to bring it in and he would stay behind to help me out. (Big thanks to that guy)

While waiting on the side of the motorway six motorcyclests stopped to see if i was alright and if i need to use their mobile phone to call for help. Another 5 motorcyclests slowed down to like 40kph and gave me the "thumbs up", once i had returned the "thumbs up" they chopped it down and speed off. What a bloody bunch of ledgends. In auckland of all places. We get a bad rap for being antisocial w@nkers but realy what more could you ask for. So realy just want to say cheers and that you guys are a credit to sport. My wife was stoked to if she went out riding without me an got into trouble taht help wouldn't be far away.

But be warnned. I had these stupid boy racer valve caps on that were ment to light up. They never worked and were on the bike when i brought it so i never pulled them off. The cap was so heavy that it snapped the valve stem off. At the bike shop the front valve stem was about to go too. All i can say is we are lucky that the rear one decided to let go first.

There is a thread here somewhere about a similar thing happening to Disco Dan, not sure if it is/was the same valve but same result, I think with a front tyre?......and yay for the awesome biker community!! We rock :Punk:

We have Ixion to thank for hammering that philosophy home on KB.

In regard to the valve caps, isn't centripetal force amazing?

I think I was one of the guys you waved off with a thumbs up. Just after the Newton rd on-ramp eh some time in the afternoon a few weeks back. From memory it was pretty heavy traffic.

Fortunately the times I've had issues I've been riding with others but I'm happy to build up karma credit for the day I need someone to stop and help me out at 3am in the rain.

Cheers man,
the bike is gone now less the valve caps to a happy new owner. I just brought a 2005 zx6rr and the first thing i checked when i got it was the valve caps, yet another lesson learnt the hard way.....could have been worse though.:dodge:

Similar thing happened to me riding home at night, tail-light died on the journey, had somebody else just simply pull in beside me and ride as my tail-light about 2 months back.

If only I could meet the fella, shake his hand, and just say thanks :)
