If it was going to have hurt her, you would have known about it by now.
These days, chickens are grown so quickly, their bones are softer so they don't tend to splinter when they are eaten.
As per most advice on this forum, taken at your and your dog's own risk

She should be just fine. If you have any concerns, ring your vet's after-hours number for advice.
Don't forget that dogs are designed to eat a range of "foods" (such as those that are long dead and decaying) that would deter many other animals.
I would have thought the kick in the ribs would have hurt more..... and what may i ask was the dog doing in the fridge?...:shit:

Cooked chickens are not too bad although the leg splinter bones and the wishbone are the worst, just keep an eye on her for a while. Chickens are only about 7 weeks old when processed so the bones are very soft. Raw chickens I feed to my Wolfhounds (for 25 years now) & have never had a problem. Your dog may smell (fart) for a coulpe of days depending how fast she digests the chook. I had a male wolfie fart for 3 days when he stole/ate 11.5kg of gravy beef. Wishing her all the best. ciao, Chris

you may just want to keep an eye on the dog, cooked bones are definately a danger... raw, okay, but cooked, not okay... your animal will probably be fine, but in case, keep an eye out... bones can cause problems in the lower digestive tract...
definately call your vet immediately if anything seems off...

My dog has survived:
A whole tin of Quality Street. He got the wrappers off half of them..
A whole Christmas Cake.
A 1kg lump of cheese.
30 pigs' ears.
The contents of the fridge in one go, including.. the tub of butter, all Mrs Lobster's chocolate stash, etc. We bought a fridge with a heavier door after this. One he couldn't open.

Dogs have special stomach acid and chemicals to break down bones. The chicken bone issue is one of it lodges and choking, as with some cooked bones that arent munched up into good swallow friendly portions. Once its down the gullet its fine. What they can handle eating is both amazing and disgusting. Gourmet treat ='s well rotted bone that been buried for weeks.
Mine does "preserving".
A 1kg lump of cheese.
Now that is one thing sure as eggs to cause the said animal to fart...did I say eggs?

Also... my friends Chocolate Labrador ate half a lime tree last night that was a gift from some other friends.... the only danger to the dog was from its owners

I have seen a dog get into a sealed Tupperware container to steal someone's lunch so a few bags would be nothing to a hungry canine!

the chicken bones should be fine as long as the dog has had a couple of poops you have nothing to worry about...sometimes bones can get caught in the bowl and block it.......just be careful with salty meats ie ham and corn beef.....as they tend to make the dog drink too much and can cause them to drown.....it has happen in larger dogs like St bernards.....and my saint stole a garden gate once.....that was interesting:innocent:

Not useless lecturers. Seen dogs with serious complications from eating bones, some from eating too many that they have compacted & cause serious constipation- if ya don't shit ya die! some from tearing the lining of the intestines & yes bones can rupture the bowel. Always a good idea to keep an eye on a dog that has bones. A lot of the time sweet- no probs but there is always a chance. Some dogs just shouldn't bother with them.
Lilsel, she'll probably be ok but watch your dog for unusual behaviour for a few days. If she is defacating without too much of a strain- great! (a little bit of oil (-vege, fish) can help them)

Curry gives them the trots too. I'd imagine, obviously..
The vet gave mine some sort of oil or something to make him shit when he'd eaten the chocolates. Might have been castor oil. Might not have been. I can't remember. It was a while ago now. A whole carton of vitamin capsules loosens a dog's tummy up a bit..

humans dont have to eat meat, but cats do.. as for dogs, they're omnivores, however, they still need the protiens etc that meat provides., .. and they are way healthier for it...

Humans are omnivores too. And hypocrites as well, unfortunately.

My brother's a vegan, he only feeds his cats and dogs special catndog vegetarian food. It makes their farts smell a bit though, other than that they're very healthy.
And they make for great cover for when you want to fart, just walk past one of the dogs when you drop one. Blame them if it's a badun. Works every time. Dirty muts.

hahahahaha... we only evolved behaviourally to be omnivores darling... we dont actually NEED the meat, whereas cats and dogs do..
as for the vegan cat food... well, the cats cant actually be THAT healthy because they are true carnivores... they actually DO need some form of meat diet because they cant digest the plant matter (or other) very well..

Yeh I'm sure your dog will be OK,a friends dog ate TWO WHOLE RABBITS that we had got whilst hunting. Looked a bit sorry for itself the next day (just didn't feed it for a day).Wild dogs engorge themselves as they don't no when their next meal is going to be.

True, cooked bones become brittle and can splinter, which can in turn cause ripping of the gut.As for requiring meat,I say give me meat I'm a CARNIVORE !

That comment sounds like it was lifted directly from The Beginner's Guide to Vegetarianism, written by some learned authority like Paris Hilton. I suspect that this is not the appropriate thread to continue such a discussion.

Meat. But yes, you're right. Just like human beings' inate inability to digest cellulose is physiological, not behavioural.
