Howdy all,

Few reasons for this. You choose 40 on C4 is doing it, it was interesting last time, and we have had a few heavy topics in the last week or so.

So, as the thread title alludes; what are some terrible songs or albums by artists you generally consider to be good.

C4 has come up with Genesis, I can't Dance, Kylie Minogue Locomotion, along with a whole lot of other crap.

For me, I think probably most oof Eric Clapton's Pilgrim Album. Deep lyrics spoiled (ruined is too strong) by too much arrangement. The solos weren't great on the album but subsequently, he has done some of the songs live which were great

As an alternate (cos I just thought of it) what are some great songs by artists you normally can't stand.

Have at it.

Charlie Parker's `Just Friends', the famous version. Some people say it's one of his best performances, but I've always seen it is just a sell-out to the public. Strings?!?! What the hell are they doing on a Bird album. Where is Max Roach?!

'Your love alone something blahblah......' Stereophonics' lastest offering, with the singer from the Cardigans.
Some people like it, and I guess it's a passable tune, but in my opinion it's definitely a regression from their usual stuff.

What the fuck was Jimmy Page thinking when he thought up this shit? An LSD flash back from the 70's maybe?

Yeah, yeah, bit of a thread dredge, but better than starting yet another thread full of shit..... so anyway,
U Choose 40 on C4 (yep, get a life!) is tonight doing Pop Royalty, Madonna VS Michael Jackson. So what do you think, who wins???

My money's on Madge, I can happily listen to her music without wanting to kill myself, can watch her music vids without feeling violated, and hey, when was the last time MJ put out a new song??

Heh, looked at the thread title and thought someone had pinched idea. Then saw "Started by Mully"

I cannot stand Madonna. She drives me mental. I think she's a talentless hack who had her time 20 years ago and yet wont just fuck off and age gracefully.

Mind you, I wish Michael Jackson would fuck off too. I think he's been trying to recently though, and for that I congratulate him.

But then, what do I know?

Yes!

You're a cruel lady, Mrs KD.

That's OK. If that's what you thought.

No, no. I'm alright. Just got something in my eye is all.

Not the first time I've heard that today, my hubby's yet to come to bed, so probably won't be the last either.:devil2: *passes over the tissues*, that's what you get for calling Madonna a hack!:Pokey:

Mully

that's what you get for calling Madonna a hack!

I think you'll find it was "Talentless Hack"

Would "Attention Whore" been more appropriate?

owwwwwwwww, meowwwwwww!!:girlfight:
Anyway, it's actually a toss up between Madonna and Michael Jackoff, and I think you actually agree with me that Madonna is actually better than Michael, even though you hate them both.
Hey, she's far from my favourite artist ever, but she's had some good songs IMO.

I'm a big fan of Neil Young, but his "greendale" album I've only tried to listen to once and had to give up before it finished playing...

I like the original topic.

Pearl Jam covered Split Enz "I Got You". It was terrible. Couldn't believe it.

Ok, so this isn't "best artist" material, but in my book one of worst songs EVER would have to be "Bonnie and Clyde" by Serge Gainsbourg and Brigitte Bardot.

Where was the double-necked wobble-board?

Metallica - St. Anger (the song).

I actually like many tunes off the album, some of the songs I find really cool and quite catchy. But the song St. Anger is just rubbish. One horrible, half assed guitar riff played over and over. How that ended up as the title track of the album is beyond me.

Most of the Foo Fighters - There Is Nothing Left To Lose album (besides a few exceptions - Breakout, Generator, Learn to Fly etc) this album puts me to sleep.

The Offspring - practically anything after Inxay on the Hombre. Americana was passable at best. Everything from then on IMO is garbage.

I very much appreciate dire straits - however, I kinda hate two of their most popular songs:

Walk of Life - musically it's a banality, you can not stand still when it's playing but it's as if they are mocking us all the way with the simplicity and shallowness...

Money for Nothing - the intro is awesome, then it becomes incredibly dull (at least from a musical perspective) fortunately the lyrics makes it worthwhile.
