After 8 months without a bike, I have reignited my passion for riding and am currently saving for a new one.

I'll have the money by the end of the year but that's still a way off from now (June). I thought it'd be a good idea to list some of the things I do to make sure I'm ready when I can finally get it and have the list expanded by you lot.

Ideally I, and I'm sure you too want to just be able to buy the bike, sign the papers and ride away with as little hassle as possible.

- Sign up to KB and read as much as you can.
- Research the bike you want long and hard so that you know you won't have made a mistake when you finally get it.
- Think about what you most want a bike for and try to find possible bikes that'd fit with your goal.
- Set a goal for how much money you want to spend on a bike and start saving to reach that goal.
- Set a similar goal for gear/accessories/insurance as these will be important.
- Make sure your licence will be suitable for the bike you're planning on getting.
- Study the roadcode, borrow a mate's bike (or hire one) and pass your tests.
- Take a refresher course (if returning to biking) or another driver safety course.
- Go and sit on as many bikes in the shops as you can.
- Test ride (if you have full licence) as many bikes as you can.
- Read as many reviews, articles, anything about bikes as you can.
- Learn how to maintain a bike and the things you'll need to do it.
- Watch biking videos on Youtube or similar.
- Go and look at www.ride2die.com to make sure you know the risks and test your determination to go ahead and get a bike.
- Try to live more consciously about the roads. If you're a pedestrian, try to be actively aware of cages and bikes on the road. Walk as if you'd ride, always on the look out for hazards. If you already drive, try to increase your awareness.

That's all I have for now to keep me occupied until I can take my bike home. If anyone else has any good tips and things to do I'll happily add them.
