I saw this last night. Top Gear is a "must watch" of a Sunday evening. I liked the part when Jeremy hopped in the back seat!

Yeah, I saw it last night. I make a point of watching Top Gear every Sun. If you didn't already know, there is a new series starting soon, I THINK Sep 25th!

My only problem is that in the past I've heard Jeremy going on about how much he hates motorbikes, and yet he loves the motion of the Carver, which is obviously trying to emulate the cornering of a motorbike. Still looks like fun though, I'd definitely have a go, given the opportunity.

Hehe, I'm glad the other presenter made reference to the superior performance of motorbikes, when compared with the carver (and all other cars).

Slightly :Offtopic: but, did anyone watch the Monte Carlo Grand Prix last night? Before the race, they had the F1 car and a normal BMW perform a head to head braking test. I really like those sort of tests. Anyone know of a place I can find more of the same? Say, a sports bike VS F1 car around the track? Had to go to bed shortly after the start, but good job Schummie on coming second (from falling back to 15th after a spin). That guy is a machine, so precise!

Dave.

I saw it... and i want one!

And Jeremy only hates bike coz he rode a monster and it scared the shite out of him with the acceleration!

Most of the UK bikers hate Jeremy and you'll hardly find a good word about him on the UK Blackbird site. I reckon they're thin-skinned though as he just likes being outrageous - pure entertainment, that's all. My wife reckons that it's the best programme on TV. She laughed until she cried when they destroyed the Datsun Sunny and caravan with the blast from the jet-engined drag car a few months ago:first:

By the way, both of his side kicks ride bikes.

They had Neil Morrissey on recently, and he is into bikes aswell. I reckon he'd be a laugh to ride with :mobile:

Yeah I saw this last time round so had the TV on mute while it was on last night so I could talk on the phone but just keep an eye on it. Still looked cool all the same, but my garage isn't big enough for one of those plus the vehicles it already has in it.

might have to sell some of the vehicles you have there to fit it in, both space-wise and budget-wise... I seem to remember from watching that program months ago they were thinking of 60K for one  Cant remember if that is pound, euro or NZ dollars. In any case, it is a fair bit of dosh...

Not to mention Jodie Kidd cleaning up the boys in the Liana. I bet there was instant erectile disfunction among Jeremy, JK, et al. Tall, gorgeous, Pommie models rock!

I have to battle with the missus to watch any programmes about cars or bikes, including most motorsport. Yet she thinks nothing of putting me through an hour of aussie soap crap. Then if I jump on the puter to get away, she accuses me of not spending enough time with her. :brick:

I reckon Jeremy (and sidekicks) are hilarious. Watched them last night with the Corvette. Methinks jeremy does not like american cars much.

I'll dig out one for you I read recently of several fast cars versus a couple of fast bikes, where they used Aaron Slight as one of the test riders.
It's not F1, but still interesting. For what it's worth, the F1 cars hold the lap records at most tracks, so a comparison would be a bit of a let-down.
I'd imagine their power/weight ratios aren't much different to the bikes, but they have a lot more traction, so achiever higher cornering speeds and short braking distances.

At Catalunya:

Michael Schumacher - 1:14.670
Sete Gibernau - 1:42.596

No comparison. The F1 cars accelerate as fast as the MotoGP bikes, but can outbrake and outcorner the bikes.

Yeah I think i read somewhere that at the end of the main straight the f1 cars brake at the 50m mark but the gp bikes brake at the 200m mark, or something like that.

I wouldnt be surprised if the f1 cars actually accelerated faster aswell, cause they have alot more traction.

If you want more, try googling with summat like I did; I put this in the search box:

However, having said that, check out this video for what happens if you have a course with long straights.

NB if you have trouble with XP SP2 not verifying the codec (damn security settings!) here's the codec.

Hmmm. Does the radical count as a car, or a four-wheeled Huyabusa? :msn-wink:

Hitcher
14th September 2004, 10:28
Irrespective of which is faster, these comparisons always overlook the "experience" aspect, the thrill of being there. Going for a ride on a bike is a vastly superior experience than going for a drive in a car. Slam dunk.

IIRC he was talking around mid 20K pounds. He did note it was expensive. Looks a hoot, though.
