My GN squeaks when I brake just wondering if thats because I topped the break fluid up with castrol DOT4 as the fluid was low when I bought it. Had a mechanic check the bike he said the break pads are fine so it isn't them. Any Ideas guys???

Try a light emery paper on the pads, and light scuff on the disc.
Dust build up on pads can cause a frequency squeal.(like some truck brakes)
Keep us informed.
A can of brake clean from repco will also help with dust/gunge removal.
The fluid shouldn't be causing the noise. Just make sure its in good condition.
The steel back of the pads should be free of rust and there should be a shim on the pad that touches the caliper piston.(if my memory serves me well).
Check a parts manual to be sure. The shim helps prevent squeal also.

Yeah, it's a GN.... :)

Mine does too, as does a mate's. I thought it was a feature, not a bug. You mean it can be fixed? :gob:

Does it go away for a while if you go real slow then pop the front brakes once or twice?

(Although that may of course get the forks to squeak....)

took my bike back under warranty because of the squeaky front brake,it was eventually solved by grinding radial grooves accross the pads to help get rid of the dust.
