View Full Version : Wellington: IL4 & Deviant do Welly - 1 Night Only!! (9 June)

Deviant Esq
7th June 2007, 15:16
Okay all you Wellybums, here's your chance to prove you're not a bunch of arrogant w**kers! P/T but it's what the thread says... :nya:

Anyway we're on the mission this weekend to get IL4 back to his home haunt of Taranaki. I'm the "caregiver" (according to the people who we got permission off ;)) / driver. We'll head off from Burwood on the morning of Saturday June 9, to be in Picton for the 6.05pm ferry crossing, landing at Wellywood at 9.05pm.

Update: We'll be staying with Nasty and Grub in Whitby - thanks for the call Nasty! So come over for a BBQ, and bring a few colds ones... and we'll be set! Will be a late-ish BBQ, so long as that's not an issue for anyone. I don't know the way to Nasty's place, so if someone's available to meet us at the boat, that'd be awesome. :niceone:

We'll quite possibly do an 8am Sunday morning breakfast too... depending on how soon we need to leave. I need to be at New Plymouth airport by about 5pm to catch the 5.45 flight back to Christchurch via Welly.

No harm in trying: IL4 reckons if any single ladies who've got a bit of a thing for guys in wheelchairs... bring 'em along! :blip: Another message from IL4: No bush pigs. Whatever that means..

You can post here up until about 1am Saturday morning (or very late Friday night if you're one of those "it's not tomorrow until I've slept!" people)... or send me a text - 027 696 7896... or IL4 if you have his number.

Cheers
Ryan & John

My mates band is 'on' this weekend in the Paekakareki Memorial Hall - more the merrier - pm me if you are keen!

Thanks for the offer Paul, but unfortunately I don't think we'll be able to manage being in two places at once! ;) Nasty was good enough to give me a bell and offer us a place to stay / BBQ, so that's where we'll be! Your band's playing that late? Come over afterwards and say hello :)

Afterwards i could come over and say 'werog ghung a hic bleugh' which is usually what i can manage after one of these nights......

Sunday could be a go though ....

You're welcome to come along, whether it's Saturday night or Sunday morning. Hope to see you there :)

Pity for those who can't come, but I'm surprised at the amount of interest at such short notice - great stuff! Had a ride today to make up for not being able to this weekend. Well, the trip was fine, we got here. The two of us are at Nasty's place in Whitby as I type this. Good trip up to Welly though overall. IL4 surprised himself and did most of the driving, I only took over when he got to the point where he felt too uncomfortable, and we needed to push on to make the ferry... which we did, not much time to spare though! Met a few of the Welly crew this evening (what were you doing so quiet Mrs Kendog?! Was looking forward to meeting and chatting with you but I didn't know who you were until you were leaving! And even then only because I made the effort to find out! I feel so unloved... :weep: ), hope to meet a few more tomorrow morning! And some bikes to drool over... mmm... wish I could pinch them for a ride... :shifty: Our time is short though, sadly.. but such was the welcome and banter I'll be happy to come up again and spend some more time up here. You guys rock! Esp Nasty & Grub for putting us up, beating AJ Turbo to it ;)

Thanks for a hearty breakfast Brett and Kari, we were quite full and didn't need to stop for coffee too early at all.

From Paraparaumu Sels1, KoroJ, and I, escorted IL4 and Deviant up SH1. We stopped just before the Shannon turn off and bid IL4 and Deviant farewell then headed over the Pahiatua Track. Continued our ride right back through to Carterton for a bite to eat at the Wild Oats and home by 3pm.

Well here is an interesting item: from my place to Castlepoint and back is 300km and the ride up SH1 and across the Pahiatua Track and back down SH2 was 310km.

What did I practise?
Well both the Castlepoint and Pahiatua Track rides have been my longest so far. Today riding with Sels and KoroJ was very enjoyable and doing the Pahiatua Track for the first time. Practise - hazard detection, three key items today:
1. Wind conditions briefly after we left SH1 heading out to Shannon

2. Top of Pahiatua Track stock being moved, ah hum say no more.

3. Riding my own ride. Sels1 and KoroJ have been in the saddle longer than I have and this was a good ride for me. Self Discipline was an important personal key.

Thanks guys for your patience and taking me over the track today.

Here are some pics:

Heads Up and Enjoy

Checked on the big...ish fella & made sure he was comfortable then checked DE's passport to find he was persona non grata in the naki. He then got a personal escort to the airport for deportation about 6pm tonight.
Cheers everyone for turning their trip into an adventure.

Wellington crew: take a bow. What an awesome bunch of people! I only posted this up two days before we would be up there, and we would end up only being in Wellington about 12 hours before heading out again (7 of which were spent asleep!), but still you came to see us. Again bearing in mind this was all very short notice, Nasty (and "hands up!" Grub :wavey:) did an outstanding job making sure all was organised, on time and catering for such a demanding collection of people. Nice BBQ on the Saturday night, great to chat with those of you who came along then (Mrs Kendog's "shyness" aside ;)), good sleep, then probably the best brekkie I've ever had! Huge thanks must go to the thankless cooks - Nasty, KoroJ and Mrs KoroJ as well as one or two others. It was delicious!

Was great to catch up with a couple of old friends: nudemetals (+ Mrs Nude; shame you can't ride the Guzzi for the time being Chris), and Freebird (+ Mrs bird). Also great to meet those (in)famous KBers I hadn't met: Colapop (think I heard a rib crack ;)), Riffer (hi kids! Vrooom... meow!), Mrs Kendog (luv you too... Can I sit on your bike again?), KoroJ (+ Mrs KoroJ. Thanks for the nametag, what a hoot!), Buckbuckno1 (nice to meet you Guy), sels1, ajturbo, tl_tub, Skunk, F5 Dave, Paul in NZ (noice bike!), and of course Nasty and Grub (:wavey:), without whom this wouldn't have been possible. Also thanks to nadroj in New Plymouth for taking me to the airport and chatting away until the plane arrived. Apologies to those I've missed, I know there's at least one!

Had an absolutely cracking time in Wellington. Bunch of arrogant wankers? Pfft! Well, except for those of you who didn't turn up due to indoor soccer injuries... :dodge:  Nah pisstake Nige, look forward to meeting you one day too. Anyway I'll be happy to come up and visit again, but hopefully stay for a bit longer in a bit less of a rush!

Arrived back in my island now... but already looking forward to next time. Keep in touch! :niceone:

OK. Not much done to it yet...

Bike looked, sounded and smelt totally awesome. Cheers to all that arrived whilst we was there, cheers to Nasty and Co for putting us up and cheers to those who saw us out. However I was not that interested in being behind bikes as I'd much rather be on a bike rather than looking at them, therefore the bikes followed us...
Special thanks to Deviant Esq for making sure I got home safely, that ment alot to me bro.

After this morning's effort;
a) Mrs KD is not shy
b) her bike has been fondled, ridden and manhandled (by me)
c) she's not gonna need to see a chiropractor for awhile... or is that she will need to see one...?
d) That punk Inline4 will be cuddled again... he's so resistant to man-love!!

Next time it will not be the fist, but something much harder, and not not that!

You're welcome mate, happy that it all went smoothly and to plan. Worth it to have the get together in Welly, that was cool! Bet it's good to be back home again in the old haunts after 7 months in Canterbury hell! Err... something like that anyway. :whocares:

Lock up your daughters and lock up your wives. Lock up your back door and run for your lives, the boys are back in town, don't you mess around!

Yea, something like that eh Ryan? Have to behave myself these days, or something like that eh.

Will post a thread when I are due to return to ChCh.

No harm in trying: IL4 reckons if any single ladies who've got a bit of a thing for guys in wheelchairs... bring 'em along! :blip: Another message from IL4: No bush pigs. Whatever that means..

Bushpig is a term commonly used for us northland females... Actually there is no point calling us "females" we are far to butch...

I know exactly what John means... ;)
