Ooh, bugger. But it's a good sign when KBers are still able to post after their mishaps.
funnily enough...yes u have to laff, only broke my left shoulder. i busted all ligaments in left knee, popped my spleen like a tomatoe and my drama now is left thigh. what started as a peice of black skin the size of my thumb on my thigh, is now a gapping hole the size of a TV guide x 5cms deep..cut in with what looks like a cookie cutter. my right thigh has become the place were they harvest donnar skin. thats actually the worst pain. i havent had knee rebuilt yet but i can still 'creep' about. basically all left side of me is forked. face got abit of slap and tickle when my visor must of busted. it was all healled over by the time i woke up anyway..today is day 59 in hospital...i will leave here with hardware in my shoulder a few scares, maybe a limp, alot more mobility then some. im a very luck gurl. im now a non-smoker and 15 kgs lighter.

Well...after 3 months Ive finally been discharged and im STILL at home. I was initially discharged from hospital on 16 May, but rushed back to hospital via ambulance 17th May after my thigh basically EPLODED..EWWW!!! After 6 operations and one nasty huge graft, I was discharged..again...only to go back 3 days later with kidney failure :( I shit you not folks...KIDNEY FAILURE!!! WHY ME!!! So...the count now is 9 operations...no spleen (did I mention that the surgeon reattached my navel sideways and off centre!!!!) The scars on my face are now quite faded..( But I know they are still there) My nose looks ok ( my visor was shattered and looked like it just about sliced my nose off) My shoulder is the worse pain. I broke the bit on my back and were it attached to the collar bone. Ive lost well over 20kgs and I cant stop loosing weight. I lost 3kgs in the last 6 days and the docs are threatening to send me back to hospital. I honestly cant help it. Food doesnt taste the same after the concussion. The day of the accident, 11th April, and for 3 weeks after, I have no recollection at all. I abused the doctors, nurses, cleaners just about everyone who came near me appaerantly. I was told that what concussion can do :( My memory started to comeback slowly, like a 'blink' worth and slowly getting longer and longer bouts or recollection. I still have more surgeries to go. My knee has 1 out of 4 intact ligaments and hurts like crazy when I think I can do without my brace for a day. My shoulder as mentioned before, is the worsed pain. On top of it all, because of the kidney failure ( they are going again now) the docs have removed ALL my lovely pain releif and given me panadol and tramal instead. My kidneys failed because of all the drugs I taking at once. 3 different antibotics ( 1 for thigh wound that was the size of a TV guide and 5cm deep, 1 for pnemonia I contracted because of all the operations, 1 for a bug that was resistant to all other antibiotics) and 3-4 different typs of pain releif ( depending on how bad I felt at the time)
I am now looking for another bike. Well..I hope to be able to get back on soon. My boyfriend changed the insurance on bella to 3rd party a week before I wrote her off. Anybody who wants to buy parts off her get intouch. Her motor is apparently fine, but frame is prolly bent.

Hope things are going to turn out alright for you pixc. Your accident makes mine sound tame! I had to spend 2 1/2 weeks in hospital and i had somewhere around 20 broken bones! Nothing compared to you! Do you find that you get sick of people looking at you with sympathy? I hated it. Still do. Just because you have crutches does not make you a cripple!

Pixc,
Sorry to hear what happened. I am sure we are all concerned and if you need help to get back on track do sing out. Perhaps we can start by auctioning your bike bit by bit off? And with the money you can buy yourself something new.
I will pray for your quick recovery. :innocent:

Yesterday I went to the 'Brain Injury Clinic' were I was told im all roses except for the "cogs are running a bit slow". Humph!! Im just resting I tell ya!
I went and saw the surgeon thats fixing my shoulder and hes well and truely happy with his handy work for now. Surgery again prolly in 6 weeks for that. I have to say the team of surgeons that looked after me are fantastic. I had 5 senior surgeons plus their jnrs for each peice of me that needed rebuilding. My pain releif is very ..lackin now since renal failure and Im stuck with having to get expensive non subsidised stuff. Yesterday my pharmacy bill was $159. Today I woke up feeling like Ive been hit by a bus. My torso is very sore and breathing is getting more difficult. Im hesitant to go back to the doctor incase the prick sends me back to hospital. Ive decided tomorrow will be more conveniant. As long as I dont lay down ill be fine. Another night sleeping in the lazy boy for me :( btw...IF ANYBODY SAYS TO ME 'GEZZZ YOUVE LOST ALOT OF WEIGHT' AGAIN...Bitch slap heading your way!!!! I dont think their is a straight peice on bella altho I havent had a close inspection.

I tell you what I really hate, my memory is still ...funky. I have minor panic attacks because I know im forgetting something...appointments etc. What bothers me the most is that before I was an independant women. If I couldnt manage it on my own I got someone who could. If I wanted something I went out and got it. I was an active mum and loved hanginh out with my 14 yo girl and 12 yo boy. Now I am needy. As hard as I try to be independant...I pay for it dearly afterwards with pain. Even simple tasks such as grocery shoping, driving my manual car. Try that with a fucked knee and fucked leg in general...and the arm you change gear with is fucked too. But hey..these things are sent to test us...and Im sure it can only get easier.

ACC is helping money wize....just. Since Ive never collected/used any
governement moneys before, im a tad nervous about it. On wednesday one of my sergeons told me it could take 2 years to completely recover when I asked about work. He told me to stop being in such a hurry and he was really impressed with my progress thus far. I was creeping about without a crutch because I left the bloody thing at home.

maybe a ACC recognised physio can suggest a home help arrangement. ACC seem to help those that need it and politely ask.
You have more right to assistance than most. Think of it as fastracking your recovery.

OK, Bella is still sitting sadly in the shed putting on the major sulks. Im not sure what to do with her. Shes fairly forked. I need suggesetions. Dont forget Im mechanically retarded. Still brings tears to my eyes when I see her in the state she is. From what Ive heard (some friends/family had to have a look at the devistation) she might have a few good bits on her and the engine might be fine.

well..its been ...lots of months since bin and ive jut about had anuf. I had an arguement with duty doc on friday. He wanted to call ambulance for me. I flat out refussed, gathered my things and crept back to my car and drove home. my kidneys keep complaining and im so tired from having panadol as my sole sorce of pain releif. I wish at times i never woke up. The whole left side of my throbs in pain. I cant sleep anymore then a hour at a time. Surgeon says " suffer the pain or loose your kidneys" I have started smoking again..as of 2 days ago. It spins me out for a few mins and i dont notice the agony. The graft on my leg is infected, im running hot an cold fever. My heart is pounding if i walk down the hall way. Everything seems to be getting progresively worse. I can hardly have any clothing on my shoulder as the weight of it or movement of cloth over my shoulder hurts. I need a holiday. In a warm place. I cant stress enuf the importance of wearing armour under draginjeans or leathers.
This post is merely a vent and I am in no way seeking/looking for sympathy. I made my bed...and Im sleeping in it.
