We changed insuring our motorbikes to Swann (through Kiwibike - Motorcycle Insurance Brokers New Plymouth). Anyway I got home after a walk with my two wee fellas in the afternoon to find a message on the answering machine.
Basically Swann Insurance had a promotion running in May where they were giving away prizes of $1,000 voucher for motorcycle gear, and I was one of those fortunate enough to have my name pulled out of the hat.
Vouchers on it's way, so we're off to Motomail (store elected by Swann) to salivate  over the options until we get the voucher.
YAYEE can't believe it! We're desperately in need of a few items so it couldn't have been timed better.
SWANN INSURANCE YOU ROCK! Better deal on insurance, as part of the insurance there's road side assistance and I win a voucher - sooo cool!:2thumbsup

Just try and not spend it all on one item!

So many goodies, what to buy....
Think it's new trouser time for me, my pair have been a bit melted from the last bin on one leg, and that I'm sure will gobble up a fair bit of the budget!

Don't forget to put some dosh into buying kewl but useless stuff! Like those little cord reminder thingies and visor wipers and those sucker toys that you can stick onto your helmet ...
Next thing you know, you'll be strutting around in your biker boots like Nazis! :msn-wink: (gijoe1313 goes for the thread closure! Yes!)

You think I look like a National Socialist Worker? Or that I'm about to have a party? (McJim quickly refers to the party's pre-Adolf days in an effort to diffuse the Godwin effect) Rolls 3 D10........

Good for you but if you ever have to claim from them God help you. They tried every dirty trick in the book.
Not surprised they had to have a promotion to try and get customers. Please you got some gear tho.
Read all the fine print.

I'm with Swann, but though Kiwibike... speaking to Dave (boss) he said they had a 100% payout rate... and the process time tends to be quite good.
Although, the fine print is a right laff in places, with mods to bikes etc. I just make sure I keep Kiwibike up to date with all offences, mods to bike, and what its insured for... That way, the company has no way to squiggle on those points.

Thanks for the input on Swann experiences you have had.
Touchwood that we never need to make a claim, I'd rather stay upright. But in the event where we needed to claim, I'm sure they will pay if you're claim is legit and you've done all they've asked in the policy wordings.
I'm just stoked that we got a prize! WOOHOO
Nice when good things happen. Must go buy a lottery ticket or something.

3.5 months process time, heaps of stress, I had to get them to read their own policies. You have to chase them. Tried going back on their word. They tried every avenue to get out of it. Thank God I work in a lawyer's firm and I had noted every ph/email/fax call with details. Anyway onwards and upwards.
I just wouldn't want anyone else to go through what I had to.
But hey a bonus has already been received in our friend winning a worthwhile prize. I wonder what it's like to win something lol.

BMW, were you with Swann direct? By using Kiwibike, you go to them instead, and let them deal with the actual company...

Yes I was with them direct. But that should make no difference.

In an ideal world, no, it shouldn't. We don't live in an indeal world tho. Muscle talks, you are one random against the company. Kiwibike is a big customer of them, they won't try to pull a fast one on them, or they can kiss goodbye future business.
Just like phoning Telecom as a residential customer. You're lucky if you don't have to wait over an hour. Phoning on behalf of the odd customer, through the business line, 5 minutes, if that.
Additionally, thats why brokers exist. They have more bargaining power than your once off business, and are there aiming to make your life easier. You go to them more, they get more muscle with the companies they deal with... Well, this is the way I see it.

Well the Voucher arrived and a happy afternoon was spent ogling the wares of Motomail while being attended by a skinheaded hippy (an oxymoron for sure but a very knowledgable and helpful oxymoron nonetheless!)
We have walked away with:
A Helmet, Pants, and 2 pairs of gloves.
Very happy campers.

Congrats on the prize/winnings woohoo
As for dealing with them for a claim guess I'll find out as they're dealing with my
claim now.
Hope it doesn't take 3.5 months, It's only been a week so far.
