Got a GSX 750 popup Katana and every time I brake or indicate the head light pops up and pops back down when I turn off the indicators or let off the brakes.Anyone had anything like this before?

But its a pop up headlight, whats the problem?

I found this snippet on a site. Not as specific as yours but tells you how to solve it, although I guess not the ideal solution.
I had a 750 Katana for almost 2 years (wiped out by a cage turning right
from the left hand lane). During that time I had to replace the stator coil (it
burned out) and had no end of trouble with the motor that raised & lowered the
headlight. It had an intermittant fault where it would raise or lower the
the headlight at random intervals (very annoying at night when the headlight
lowered without being turned off). Sometimes it would continuously raise and
lower, and I'd have to pull over and kill the engine to make it stop. I
eventually disconnected the circuit and left the headlight up permanently
(the circuit for the motor and for the headlight globe are seperate). I had it
looked at 4 or 5 times and noone could find a fault with it, and it was not
a "known fault". It was a fun bike to ride, but I'm not in a hurry to own
another one. I didn't have any mechanical problems with it.

It's not really much of a problem. If I ride with the headlight on everythings normal. If the headlight's off it looks kinda silly with it popping up every time I hit the picks or indicate. It seems that somehow the brakelight and indicator circuits are in contact with the circiut for making the light pop up.I've had bikes that get dodgey electrics when it's damp or wet but this things bone dry.Switching the bike on and off does nothing.

Take the fairing off and trace the wires for the brakes, indicators, and the motor for the headlight and using a multi meter, try and find the point at which there is a short and then just use some electrical tape and your good as gold.
I have the same bike. Great bike it is to. Ive only had mine for a couple of months though and I havnt experienced this problem.

Yep, headlight motors got a bad earth, and it finds a false earth via brake lamp.

i'll second the opinion re a dead short--
Id be pulling the fairing off and looking for places the wirings been er "munched" by a crash or even just by normal wear n tear.

Or anything else on the ignition swtich operated accessory circuit.

Took it for a WOF on saturday and the tail-light bulb was fucked.Swapped it out and problem disappeared.So.there you go.It looks to me like some kinda "safety feature" to let you know your tail-lights blown.Bad earth...?

I can't find any mention of any such safety feature on the net, so doubt it's anything of the sort. If you put the blown bulb back in, does it happen again?

Don't know. All I know is it stopped when I chucked a new bulb in and instinct tells me thats what it was.I can't find fuck all on the net either about this kind of thing but I believe the simplest solution is usually the right one.

Yes, it happens again.

I can't find fuck all on the net eitherGiven the amount of info on the net, that should be a clue. If it is earthing out incorrectly, the next warning that your electrical system is amiss might be when you get stranded in the middle of nowhere with what looks to be an ignition failure  Tread carefully, electrics are funny, and earthing faults are 90% of auto electrical faults from what I've seen. Even if you do nothing else, make sure all your earth straps are clean and shiney at both ends, your battery is charged with clean tight terminals, and that your light bulb holders are gunged up with rust or whatever. :scooter:

Especially so on 80's Suzukis...

I'd take points and condensors over 80's Suzuki CDI's & stators any day of any week.
