Blind spot

Well with all the shit weather around last week we nearly cancelled this weekends ride.
How often have you stayed at home to watch the sky clear up?
Left papakura autbahn 9 am saturday.
Pirongia, otorohanga,Taumaranui,Waiouru,Taihape,Ash urst and thru to Waipukarau for the night.
What a great trip, never saw one idiot stunt from a car driver the whole way,in fact the only nearly idiots was us who got the headlight flash from a police car heading north as we gunned it up an overtaking lane south of taihape, fortunately he did not turn around as we were all doing a speed to get us a trailer ride home.
I had never been on the road from vinegar hill to fielding and thoroughly enjoyed it,so nice to go somewhere different.
another first was ride in the dark from manawatu gorge to Waipukarau,i have ridden at night plenty of times around town but was really impressed with my V Strom headlight, Bandit headlight was pathetic, Kawa ZR 750 ligt was nearly as good as mine.
Bit cold but the spa pool at the motel was set at 40 so we soon warmed up.
Sunday thru to Napier at 7 am, bloody cold, snow on the hills makes you feel colder i am sure.
After visiting mates we left napier at 11.30 to head home via Taupo, trucky at the gas station said he nearly lost his trailer on a greasy patch in the hills, makes you feel real confident.
From the gas station near the airport it never stopped raining until Taupiri,my bargain boots i got of Trade me were soaking, may as well of had a pair of jandals on, my recently purchased rain off waterproof over mitten things were absolutly brilliant, dry hands all the way home, the 2 mates had frozen fingers and at Tokoroa one had to put on another shirt he was nearly hypothermic.
Next best investment for the year was i washed my coat and trou with nik wax wash and sprayed with the same brand waterproofer.
I am impressed, all the way and stayed dry, well worth the effort.
Anyway to all you procrastinators out there who put of rides because it may be wet or whatever, just do it,set the day and time and go for it.
Get the right gear and its not so bad, wish i could relax a bit more in the wet tho, the old neck and shoulder stress muscels were a bit tight by the time i got home.

Here here, any day out is a good day (unless your sick as a dog hung over). Exactly why I got out Sunday to vist Mr Blackbird in Tok.
