Someone forgot to mention to me it was a "calm" ride today, so there i was on my fav bit of road waihi to whangamata playing catch up on matt and chris when it all went pear shaped, those who have ridden the road know its tight, but yeah i don't know exactly what i did wrong, came out of a tight left brush on the brakes, tip into the right and lost the front at about 90 - 95kph and proceeded to check out some of our beautiful native plants on the side of the road. Still trying to figure out what i did wrong, only thing i can think of is up until recently my brakes were shit, you could pull the lever to the handlebar like a clutch kinda shit, now after a service they're great, i think i may of just stabbed the brake to hard and got way more force than what i used to, meh i don't know.

I myself am totally fine not a scratch on me, thank you to my trusty leathers, boots, gloves and helmet, the bike well, the right hand front fairing is smashed to bits, lost the intake peice, mirror busted as well as the indicator. The killer was the broken foot peg bracket which meant riding home without a foot peg, sucky! The muffler has seen much better days too. Behold the brake lever stayed intact though, which was great wouldv'e been a crap ride home without it, coz the rear brake lever was munted.

Anyone out there got some spare bits for a TL "S" let me know.

The best thing about it all is i got it all on video camera, funny how shit always happens when a camera's involved init!!!!

Good ride up until then though, meet chris at BP waterveiw then meet matt at Ellerslie and we left the crap weather that was auckland at the time, to hit the coromandel, weather was average until hikiau (sp) then it was the fine for the rest of the day, we meet quasi halfway through to waihi on the first run through, but he had to shoot off to work later in the arvo.

Ride safe guys and if you don't ride safe make a sure you gotta gooda gear on alright. :2thumbsup

Bad luck mate

Good to hear you are ok

That road is so fantastic - can you describe the corner more precisely? There are some nasties - I have known of a few to go off on that right that keeps on tightenting after you have left Waihi

I wiped off on the Kupu Hikuai once - hit diesel and went down - love that feeling of bike rubbing your legs into the road ! Anyway took me ages on that stetch of road before I felt confident again

Always looking for diesel that can't be seen

Anyway, good luck with the parts search

Just as you get into the real tight shit after leaving waihi, the second climb, some of the corners are nasty round there, you just gotta tell yourself to leave opening the throttle that little bit later as it comes back round on ya.

You'll know exactly where once i get the footage up.

shit bruce that sucks dude :brick:
I must now explain to you gravitronic effect.
A new set of leathers has a pretty good gravitronic effect-sucking the unsuspecting wearer into falling off--ask KK and PT
A new paint job on the bike has a Big gravitronic effect-easily sorted by putting your freshly painted tank on the ground and haviing your son kick it a couple of times :kick:
But the worst ever gravitronic effect is carrying a camera on your bike.
Ask any racer -You know the guy with the camera bike WILL crash

Sorry to hear Bruce, nothing wrong with rangi bikes though, it'll let people know that you ride on the ragged edge, and you won't shed too many tears if/when you drop it next :msn-wink:

Also, it would appear, according to XJ/FROSTY's gravitronic effect, that the more rangi your bike looks, the less likely you are to bin it..

Celticno6 - cheers man, was happy to walk away indeed, i reckon the damage could've been alot worse too.

XJ - you're not wrong mate, i had a camera and near new leathers that i hadn't been down the road in, looks like i was screwed from the moment i left home.

I remember Kiwistorm with his onboard camera all day out at Puke a few months back. He never binned it, but at one point he strapped his camera to his helmet for a session and afterwards complained of a sore neck...blasting at nearly 300kmph down the back straight on his gixxer1000 caused his head to get thrown around a bit with the extra apparatus sticking up!

Yea for sure andrew just like in the video i pick it up and carry on with it, minus a few bike parts though :killingme , the way i tend to ride i kinda expect to have an off as much as it sucks when you do, but what can you do? If you don't wana have an off don't ride quickly. Or don't ride at all, and that is not an option.

Do ya know what camera he had? The one i have is just over 15mm in diameter and about 50mm long, i don't know if it would make to much difference to windflow etc.
Plus nearly all the motogp bikes etc have onboard camera's fitted now, but they are way up there and i'm way down here

Yeh lb

I binned mine two weeks ago ( I have kept it sort of quite round here ) and yep I had a camera mounted as well.

After I got home from hospital, my family and I were able to sit around and and have a debrief and a bit of a laugh.

All the right side of the bike was screwed :brick: and I am still out of action, (just starting to walk now) so you have done very well mate.

I know those corners well :sweatdrop they are great.

Haha i'm not one too judge mate, there are a lot of people on this site much faster than me, but i'm never far behind. You just can't tell until you ride with someone how fast they are.

My age says i'm young but shit i feel older n older as the days go by, i think motorcycles just accelarate the ageing process rather than shorten you life span!!

Im fucken glad youre okay though mate, not good to have the TL out of action, I hope it gets on the road again real soon.
Did Chris and Matt head of first, were you playing catch up?
Did all those Cops hanging around turn up ?
