The Far-East continues to come up with innovative methods of improving life at ground level. Following on from Thailand drafting their taxi-bikes as “Police Volunteers”, Vietnam will be outfitting taxi-bikes in Hanoi as ‘grass-roots’ ambulances.

The “Safety Fleet” as they will be known, will be fitted with first aid kits, uniforms and helmets. They are also expected to take courses in safe driving and first aid.

Currently 12,000 Vietnamese die annually in traffic accidents. By expanding the network of first response vehicles, the hope is to see this figure fall significantly.
